what games/franshises do you hate

simply put, what cant' you stand in terms of games, or game franchises?

For me, the top of the list HAS to be ff7, followed closely by X and X-2. Pretty abomination as they were, that' all they had going for them IMO. 7 oveall was FAR to easy, and the story was standard FF fare by the time. But mostly it's Areis' death and the fact that Cloud and Sephiroth are given Way more credit then they deserve. this also marks the first time the logic "White hair and stabbing someone in the back = ubercoolness" damn fanboys...

coming in at third would have to be....FF8 and 9. Eight just dragged on and Nine was just

Moving on, brings us to the fighting genre. Street-fighter, Mortal Kombat and DOA should've been retired long ago. Too many shotoclones going "Hadoken" Sagging breasts and extreme amounts of gore, doesn't cover up for horrible story, continuity or lack thereof.

so in short my current list is as follows

1. Final fantasy 7
2. FFX/X-2
3. FF8/9
4. SF,MK and DOA
5. Sonic Heros/Battle

I used to really like Adventure games, back in the heyday of Sierra/Lucasarts, but said genre really hasn't thrilled me as of late. Still looking forward to the The Longest Journey sequel, as well as the possilbe revival of Sam & Max: Freelance Police.

I guess what I really like, are games with a good story & gameplay. In general, U like a lot of the PS2 platformers & the Metal Gear/ZOE games. Didn't like the latest Zelda, which I thought was way too cute & its way past time that Nintendo started getting voice actors for its games.

Did I read the title wrong, or was it changed? I thought this was about games I liked. If its games to hate, then I'd say its any game that doesn't do a good job of story & gameplay.

Any other game (such as sports) just doesn't interest me. But I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate them.

Definitely in agreement about the last Zelda game. It kinda pissed me off with how cute they made it.

Here's a franchise everyone loves to hate (I'm at the top of the list of people who wanna blow the fucking thing up): Tomb Raider. Is it just me, or did the makers give her bigger boobs every time, and cheapened the game play?

I, too, hate all the Final Fantasies after 7 (I didn't think 7 was too bad, as that was the first Final Fantasy that I played). I think they're rehashed shit cakes that, for some reason or other, people actually ENJOY eating.

On the note of fighting games...I'll never get tired of Street Fighter. Everything else? Hell yeah. Street Fighter? Nope.

Last on my list is the 007 games. Why don't they just let them die? The latest one out is crap, I think.

Yeah, that's what I hate...might post back with more later.

I would have to say that I detest film ripoffs. If people can't make up their own story then they shouldn't be making a game in the first place. secondly I think that ALL games at the moment are losing affection for the hardcore gamers. Games are just WAY too accessible now, games like Super Mario Bros on the NES wasn't designed to be completed (you couldn't save but I am talking about the difficulty) It was really good to survive to the next level. But now games are practically made to be easy to someone with the mental capacity of :bbelt: . I don't want to see the same level over and over again but I do want my skills to be stretched to breaking point so I can actually boast that I completed a game and that they last more than four weeks (the average amount of time it is now taking for me to get bored of a game). Is it a common complaint or am I just wierd?

Have you PLAYED SMB lately? When I was a kid, yes, it was hard. My motor skills have developed considerably, though, and I can now rush through that game in under an hour. It'd be faster but I can't always find all the warp pipes or remember the last castle.

SMB3 is just as easy too, although it takes a bit longer unless I look up the warp whistle locations (never can remember that). Although I did beat it in a single day without warp whistles once.

And, really, try playing the wild arms games, especially the third, and compare their puzzles to the puzzles in any of the older rpgs. They blast them all out of the water once you get nearer to the end. Except maybe the "burn every goddamn bush in the world because there is literally no other way to find half this crap" thing in Zelda 1. But that wasn't hard... just dumb.

Some games have gotten easier as their franchise continued (*coughWindWakercough* I don't think I could have died from anything but getting too far from the boat if I tried), but many have gotten harder as well.

Granted, I don't think any game comes to the level of Gradius... except maybe Contra: Shattered Soldier (which I have YET to beat), or Ikaruga... but that's just one game, and I don't think it was MEANT to be that hard... just the constraints of the system and controller as far as gameplay goes.

I don't quite understand how people could find that they hated WW Because it was cartoonish, as Miyamoto wanted it. Ah well, if you're whiny or just didn't like it, doesn't matter, we get our Adult Link Lovin soon.

Game franchises I hate? Square's current sequel splurge. Come on. It's Final fantasy. NO SEQUELS. FFX? Sure, I could see WHY they would, but they still screwed it up. "Poopie!"

I loved it once, but now I really really want Megaman to make X9, and have the Mavericks or Red Alert District or whatever (headed by Sigma) just fucking kill everyone. Megaman dies. Capcom stops making shitty games. I thought X8 was a step in the right direction but you don't take that step when you're on your 40th game. Literally. I have counted from Game Boy, GBA, SNES, NES, PS2, and GC that there are currently about 40 games, just recently adding Megaman X8.

Stop. Please. Or at least start over. I really want to see "Mega Man X, the first one, redone in 2 1/2D like X8. Change nothing, just add graphics. Teh pwnz0rz

If you hate Wind Waker for its graphics, then you're prety shallow. Wind Waker doesn't have a lot goin' for it, but the graphics don't make things easier or harder.

Games that I hate. First on the list if FFVIII. I don't give a damn about graphics. When I play an RPG, the first questions I ask are "What's going on?" and "Who am I controling?" RPGs are interactive movies. I don't care if the battles or the graphics are good as long as they are winable because I want to see what happens next. To me, an RPG is all about the end of the story and the sooner I see it the better. If I replay one it is for the same reason that I reread a good book. FFVIII did not have a good story, like V, VI, and VII. I played it once and I have had about all the sappy romance that I can take for the rest of my life.

A side note to SixnineDragon, I disagree with your assesment of FFVII's story line. It is much more in depth than any of the previous ones. I have compleated the game many times and I had to get every character and take them all to every corner of the map activating side quests and character advancement in order to understand even basic parts of the general story. If you only followed the linear story line, then you missed out on some important information and the best parts of the story as a whole. I do agree, however, that Cloud is over rated and that Aeris's death is more than a little overplayed at the end of the first disk.

More later. It's two AM and I can't see my screen clearly.

Wind waker was horrible overall. Nothing about the game was good. I'm a Zelda fan and I was apalled to play this game. It was far too easy and the graphics sucked BIG time. All the puzzles were the same as previos games and I pwned the entire game in TWO days. It wouldn't even have taken that long except for the stupid long sea voyages.

Nintendo as a whole just disapoints me further every passing day. Donkey Konga! WTF!!! All their repeat titles. Nothing shiny and new that has any quality to it.

WHY Nintendo? I used to love you and you failed me. I spit on your grave. Long live Sony.

I hate Mario, (With the exception of a few titles, like Mario 64) because it's the same thing EVERYTIME.
I also hate the Pokemon games, for obvious reasons.
Soo... Maybe I should just put this in a list...
1. Pokemon.
2. Mario
3. Wario
4. Metroid Prime (sucky controls)
4.5: Halo 2 (I can't put my finger on why I don't like it, seeing as how I loved the first one)
5. Whatever the metroid is that was a remake of the first Metroid. (Too short.)
6. The rest of the crap.

Yunni 01-30-2005 10:07 PM

The only game I honestly LOATH is Akira... the pinnbal game.

Now, when I heard they were making a game out of a decent anime, I became very curious - when I actually saw the game, I ate the game box out of sheer dispare.

Oh, and Hugo the troll must die.
