Taking it Too Far
Hi.
Firstly, Brian I loved the followup to the PA thing. Niiiiicely done. I sorta felt left out (even though my site has been numerous weeks without an update and much traffic). So I, inspired by the ingenius patents being filed... http://www.norrathian.net :P - It's a tribute to PA and your response more than anything. :cool: |
Maybe I'm just dumb, but could it actually work? Is there a law against acquiring rights to humour and so forth? If there isn't, it could be very interesting....
Before anyone laughs their butts off at me, keep in mind that I'm currently living in a small backwater country and that I don't know anything about law. So....back to the question....is there a law against such things? |

In addition to the current rant on their site. They intended it as a joke refering to the EA thing. You people seriously need to calm down. |

Lol. Nevermind. |
Brian... You own the entire computing industry. I don't mean own like "Dud, u owned that guy!!!," but rather, for all intensive purposes, you literally own anything that uses a monitor. Since you kept quiet about this for so long, I think you do not intend to use this power in an extortive way, but any one person having that much power still makes me nervous. I congratulate you on your well-earned winnings, and hope you use them benevolantly.
... ... Please don't tax me. |
The thing is, Brian's also secretly working on getting the rights to the use of ink to represent things other than ink. Nuklear Age was only the first step in that. But shhh.

I'm posting off-topic because Meister is too damn funny.
Danger: end of post! ..............(I'm sorry) |
Actually, the point of my question is.....Is there any law against acquiring rights to common property? Like for example pixels and so on. Could someone actually get the rights to a patch of the ocean so that everyone who is found to be on that patch has to pay a toll? I'm trying to relate this to owning the rights to common property in technology...like owning the rights of pixels or things like that. Hope someone gets the drift of the question I'm trying to ask.
|
Owning a patch of the ocean would be similar to owning a plot of land - at least I assume.. so maybe tolling is possible in that respects... but everyone would think you're a moron ^^;
