Perditions Tale, Chapter 8, "Into the woods."
 

The group had finally gotten their horses and were riding off, after getting directions from the stable boy.

"So, according to the stable boy, we just go south through these woods until we reach the town of Mahou, then from there, there should be a main road, leading directly to the castle." Cesia said, spurring along her white horse, Crewger. "And I don't know about that monster that is supposed to be in the woods, but hopefully it won't attack us." She said nerviously, they had been traveling on horseback for about an hour now and had seen no sign of the supposed monster that the elder had warned them of, "But we should keep our eyes and ears open..."

Dawn gave a grin as she leaned forward, patting her horse gently on the side. "Well, maybe we'll get lucky and not have to worry about that old monster." She smiled as she glanced towards Jude for a moment. "Besides, even if we did, I'm sure we could handle it."

Ark made kissy sounds from behind her.

He rode up beside her and said, "Awww, Dawn has a cruuUUuush. It's so sweet." He made sure he was far enough away that she couldn't smack him.

Lynx was trying to ride a horse, but wasn't doing to well. He somehow got it to ride up towards the group, and heard what was going on. "You realize Jude is just some show up trying to get you in bed, right? He would let one of us die if it could make him seem more heroic. He acts like every hero I have ever read about in every story I have ever read."

Thid looked at his horse with apprehension and then whispered into the horse's ear, "If I die I’m taking you down with me, got that?" The horse neighed in response as if saying, "And if I die I’m taking you down with me, ya lazy bastid."

"Five coins says she says something along the lines of books aren't real."

"You know, normally I'm not one to agree, but Lynx is right. He's a glory hound that looks out for number one and only does what he does for the fame." Vace said cooly from his black horse.

"Wha-wha-what?" Her face turned beet red as she quickly cut her eyes to Ark. "Oh come on... be serious." she scowled, though her blushing completely blew her cover. "I don't have a crush..."

She slumped down onto her horse as just about everybody came onto her. "I didn't come on this trip to fall for some guy that just shows up and saves us..." She spat quietly as she pulled her hood up over her head.
