Vace smiled and said, "Well, I'm always up for avoiding a little death and devestation, so what's your plan? I didn't like mine much anyway."
A figure with a polearm came by some tied horses. "Now this is interesting. A group of horses but no riders. oh well. I'm out of whisky and the next town isn't far." The man continued on down the road.
"Cesia, You okay?" Thid's voice drifted down from the opening. Normally, Cesia would have been glad for help, but should couldn't answer him out of fear whatever was down there with her would hear her and turn out to not be very friendly. She slowly started to inch up the incline quitely, it seemed like a painstakingly slow process, but it was probably the one that would keep her alive longer. <Thid... don't come down...> She prayed nobody would follow her down.
*Meanwhile* Even though Kalimare was doing his best, the monster eventually caught up with him. In a swift blow, he knocked Kalimare off of his feet. However, instead of devouring him right then, he clamped down his teeth on Kalimare's arm, and started dragging him back to where they had come from... |
"I'm thinking the so-called horse eating monster is hungry enough to go after something completely different just to get anything to eat. After all, everyone's been staying out of here right? It's probably just... really.. hungry?" She sighed a little at how ridiculous she sounded to herself. "Maybe it's a possibility we could catch up, get its attention off of Kalimare, and get it to chase after the horse instead, us not on the horse of course..."
"Well, I don't think my horse would appreciate that much, but it's better than nothing for now. Wait, what's that?" Vace said, as suddenly they came across teh monster carrying an unconscious Kalimare. Vace immediatly stopped the horse and said, "I wouldn't advise we try any plans now, if we spook that thing or make it mad, it could decide to finish off Kalimare before we could distract it. We better follow it and look for a chance to get Kalimare away from it." Vace made the horse follow the monster at the monster's pace, carefully watching in case it looked like it was going to hurt Kalimare any further.
Dawn watched quietly as the beast first passed them, seeming clearly too interested with Kalimare and getting him to wherever they were going. She wrapped her arms around Vace tighter, a bit afraid as they now followed the beast. "Just hold on Kalimare..." she whispered softly.
She's not responding...that either means she can't talk or wont, and if it's the former then....ug, to many unpleasant possibilities....well, better safe than sorry.
Thid strung his bow and drew an arrow, just in case. Then he took a few careful steps into the den, yikes, this is steep. Perhaps she fell of balance and hit her head or something. Yea, i like that, it's much better than the other possibilities. |
((hmm, i wouldn't say that Kalimare is unconscious, just in extreme pain right now. after all, he was only bitten in the arm.))
Kalimare yelled out in pain when the beast bit into his arm. He had dropped his sword, not that it would help much now though since he only had one usable arm. His body drug along the ground as the beast took him further towards his lair. Kalimare then began feeling weak from blood loss, and felt that it was almost the end for him. Once the beast had him in his lair, Kalimare would be dead before anyone could do anything about it. |
(OOC: Goddamit, I hate finals...but they're over, so at least I can post now...)
"Well, unless that thing loses its tooth, I don't think we'll be able to free Kalimare before he goes to the den." Jude piped in to the two whispering figures as they they watched the monster drag the weakened Kalimare around. Vace looked agitated at him, probably for not showing up sonner, but Jude continued. "See, its got Kalimare's arm a good way through, so unless we detach the tooth, all we'll do is rescue a one-armed orc." |
Vace said, "Well, if we can distract it so it puts Kalimare down, then one of us can grab him while the other keeps the monster busy. We just need to be careful, because if the monster bites down on Kalimare much more, he might lose his arm, so we can't scare the monster," Vace said, realizing how absurd it sounded to scare a monster that could kill horses in one swipe and had nearly invincible armor.
"But even if we could, that would involved having to get right up next to that thing, and pray that it doesn't either bite off Kalimare's arm, eat him, or try to kill us." She noted softly, looking away as she knew the moment she looked at him she would just get really embarrassed again, and now was not the time for that.
Lynx was lying against a tree in the shade, practicing his whistling.
"Hmm, somehow, and this is just me, the idea that this thing will put down a piece of food to fight seems a tad...impossible? It'll just chomp...of course, I could jump and try to cut out the tooth in the mouth...doesnt look too protected...or, you could just electrocute the leaves and such in front of the lair, making it go on fire and scaring it away?"
"Heh, I'm not so worried about it trying to kill me, so I'll be the distraction. If I'm on my horse and can lead it away, I don't think it can catch a horse running away from it at full speed, so I'll lead the monster away, and you guys get Kalimare out of here. I don't know about knocking the tooth out, but fire might be enough to distract it."
OOC: If horses could outrun this thing, why would the villagers be scared to take their horses out, if they could just outrun it...
OOC: Because this thing hides and ambushes people and creatures as they come near, and while a startled person and horse might not be able to escape, a fully ready human and horse might be.
OOC: Celes also said the thing was suprisingly fast, so I think it outruns horses... If the orc were-wolf can do it, I think this thing can
OOC: Well in case my guy has underestimated the creature, Kalimare didn't have a horse he could get off of to distract the creature...
Dawn peered around from behind Vace. "Are you sure that that's a good idea? It caught up with Kalimare without much of a problem... who's to say it wouldn't catch up with you?"
"I expect it to catch up with me at some point, but I also expect to be far enough away from you all that it won't matter. I'll lead it away, and if it's going to catch me, then I really like my horse, but it will have to go on without me, and the creature will probably follow it since there is much more meat on it then there is on me."
