Matt scrambled off the boat, climbing onto the dock on all fours. He emitted a series of hacking weazes, then gathered himself again. "If Osano-wo grants you a favor, ask for the ability to part the waves so no one is forced to ride that thing again." Matt said to Samoht.
|
Samoht raised an eyebrow at Matt, then looked at the boat.
"Please tell me you're joking? Don't insult "The River Guppy" like that again." |
A peasant appeared at a window and looked out into the rain and then turned away. He walked back into his house. Soon a group of Samurai appeared in the street bearing weapons. They stood and observed the ronin.
|
Samoht looked at the group of new samurai, and stood up to his full height. He was a good 6 ft. tall. Not super tall, but not a schlupp, either. His bo staff was leaning against his shoulder.
"We're here on official business of Osano-wo. Delay us if you must, but keep in mind that 'tis not good health to be on the bad side of a god. Especially a cranky one that can toss lightning as he pleases." |
Tsubasa grinned at Matt. "If Osano-wo grants me any favors, I'd be sure to ask that lightning not strike me if I'm in armor during a lightning storm." Then Samoht's voice caught her attention and she turned toward him, and saw the samurai. "Why is it that I always feel uncomfortable when seeing other armed men?" She murmured, looking a little uncertain.
|
Ooc: Clan samurai don't like ronin, it's like a businessman coming across homeless guy.
A man stepped forward from the lion. He had the bearing of a commander. "Ronin had best know their place, and show respect to their betters, or else I'll personally take your head, and have an Eta mount it on a pike as a reminder to the rest of the scum that washes in from the river. Tell me the real reason you have arrived in this village." |
Ryoushuken climbed out of the boat clumsily after the others and stepped forward, shivering a bit from the rain. He bowed humbly before the Lion. His bo staff moved out quickly as he bowed, almost touching Samoht's stomach, and, hopefully keeping either he or the lion from having more confrontation than neccessary.
"Please, excuse my companion. He has become... ill of late. We are merely travelling to place him in the care of some monks I once met near Kyuden Isawa," Ryoushuken said, his voice quivering a bit, although whether from the cold or because he was nervous about having his head taken from a group of Lion, one couldn't be sure. |
Samoht saw where Ryoushuken was going with the act, and decided to play along. He could've gone against the samurai, but no point instigating fights at this moment in time.
Samoht grabbed slightly at his throat, and made a deep hacking cough. It sounded like one of his lungs was going to come up. "Don't worry 'bout me. I don't think it's TOO contagious. The wet air outside doesn't do well 'tall for it." Samoht tensed his throat and waited for the pain. With another cough, a hack of blood spat out. |
The lion sneered at the disgusting display. "The Shrine of Osano-wo is up the hill, through the arch. But the Temple of the Seven Thunders is only two days ride to the south, in the shadow of the mountain of the seven thunders. The monks of that place would be better for the healing of a sick ronin, than the sohei of the Thunderer."
|
"Again, we're sorry about our friend here. We don't mean any harm, we just want to be on our way. We'll get out of your way in a moment, we just need to figure out where we're going before we do anything hasty." Hideki had covered for himself like this a couple of times, but these samurai seemed to be a little more angered because of Samoht, and the fact that such a large group of ronin probably seemed rather suspicious.
