My art is good face it our I will hurt you mwahahahaha!!!!

This is a character I call garred. He's a basic mix between fighter and frionel. I'm making a 2d 16-bit RPG with a 2d engine with him in it. It is intitled FF0: The War of The Magi. Of course I Garland "THE BEST VILLING EVER!" is not in it only because it's in another time. Heres the walkabout and battle sprites:

And heres the full size hero picture that took me a while to make:

Face it I'm better than you. I am the evil master for chaos sakes! I steal candy from infants mwahahahaha!!!!!

Welcome to the forums. ^_^ Nice sprite work, but, he looks rather...flamboyant. I'd go lighter on the hair and supersize his eyes to make him look more like a "good guy" than a plotting bad guy. You also might want to check if that title is copyright protected. ;) Other than that, can't wait to see how your game turns out.

However, no matter how l33t your drawing skills are, or how many infants you klepto from, no one is better than me!

AKA: He looks gay. Put some pants on him, for cripes sake! And really, red and yellow? Is he into Ronald McDonald or something?

He's wearing Chain male first of all, and it's red with a gold belt, boots, and under part of the shoulder blades. But as much as I hate to say it I agree with you. I will keep it up though only to torture you so mwahahahahahahaha!!!! >:D

Are you also doing the dialogue in your game? Because I don't know how many "mwahahahahahahaha!!!! >'s" the average gamer will take before the file hits to good ole recycling bin. You can have kickin' sprites and a cool battle system, but, if the story falls flat, no one will care how it ends.

For spriting, I suggest to tone each color down a shade and maybe use a different color for the outline. I imagine he would blend into several common backgrounds.

Anyways that's not chain mail (note spelling), as far as I can tell it's half plate. My understanding of chain mail is that there is at least some indication of the interlocked ringlets. As opposed to a solid bulk of armor.

Maybe he's wearing it underneith...er...
Well yes it does appear to be half-plate, what would be a nifty thing is if you look up armour on the internet or get a history book from the library, very handy for character design. If I'm designing characters, research is a good thing to do (fun too).

Nice sprite work though, keep it up!

The "Overworld" sprites need to have bigger eyes.

Battle Sprites... There's something that needs to be fixed. I can't quite put my finger on it, though.

The Portrait needs 1) Eyes that look less like slits and more like giant glass marbles (Minus the glazed-over look or the shinyness), 2) Shoulder-protection that can't double as a skull cap (Those things are WAY too big), 3) Armor that looks more like armor and less like boobs, and 4) Legware. A Speedo does NOT make a good hero.

Arlia Janet 02-06-2005 02:50 PM

What? You need protection while in battle?

True. But a good thong or bikini makes a good heroine.

Ta da!

I know, I know! The legs aren't centered under the body. They look as though they are too far forward.
