American Family Association.

Now... normally I wouldn't put a livejournal link in here... because, well, livejournals aren't exactly 'news worthy' sources. However, this guy has screenshots of tampering done by AFA to one of their polls, and, in my opinion, the fact that they only removed votes from the 'For gay marriage' option shows that they are not simply removing duplicate votes. After all, I highly doubt that there aren't people oppossing it completely that are doing that if there are people for it doing it.

Unfortunately, one cannot trust anything now that is called a "family" association. It's code for "hates anything other than mainline sterotyped 1950s TV values." I wish associations for the family could do something other than hate gays and single parents, like maybe discuss better child-raising techniques that don't produce spoiled idiot kids? But that's obviously GAY peoples' fault!

wasnt it the AMA who coined the phrase "killographic"? Or am I thinking of another idiotic "family" group?

Krylo 12-19-2003 12:41 AM

Ahh, that's a different one, something about media and the family. Also, it appears that once they were caught they stopped playing with the votes. Against homosexual marriage and unions now has 11000 odd votes, and for homosexual marriage has 10000 odd votes. And this is on the AFA, a pointedly anti-gay website.

Here's the poll itself btw:

I already voted on it yesterday when a friend sent it to me. So far I don't see any further tinkering with results.

lymerion 12-19-2003 02:02 PM

As of about 2:00 PM EST, the results were:

44.06% Oppose Homosexual Marriage and Civil Unions. (145459 votes)
48.06% For Homosexual Marriage. (158657 votes)
7.88% For Homosexual Civil Unions. (26004 votes)

This is one of those things you can laugh at until they get into politics. Then you send hate mail. Then one of their members become president. That's when you assassinate A.S.A.P.

But that deviates from whatever I'm talking about.

Right.

They say they're going to show the poll results to CONGRESS!! I've no idea what to think. I hardly doubt congress'll take this bull seriously. But if they do....

Bezo 12-19-2003 05:20 PM

Focusing on the family takes the emphasis off of reality, which is usually the problem.

Krylo 12-19-2003 05:52 PM

Well, they can show it to congress all they want now that they've stopped tinkering with it. Their own poll is biting them in the ass at this point, showing that more people are for gay marriage than are against it, especially considering that this is on a webpage that does not support homosexuality at all. There are plenty of articles talking about how 'bad' it is. In other words, if they show it to congress now, it will just hurt their case.

Did nobody see the update to this person's post? To summarize, 2700 posts were deleted because of the fact that a supporter of gay marriage was using a script to mass-cast votes. Perhaps others were, as well.

However, this doesn't really matter. Be sure to check the polls again.

As of this writing, some 50% of all voters favor the legalization of homosexual marriage, with opposition trailing at 42%. Do you honestly believe that that if the AFA were deleting legitimate posts in an effort to skew the results in their biased favor, that they would allow the number of supporters to reach a number greater than half?

C'mon, people. Have some faith in humanity.
