Very nice. Her neck seems a bit off, but since it's from ye olde Greek works, it might be a reference problem.
Also, baroque. |

word, i saw this thread and couldnt resist showing off, i seriously couldnt... its a pretty big picture so you can click that to see the full stretch. I'm super pumped because i'm not professional at all, but based on that, i hope to be very soon.. heh.. |
Dorkass, I'm no professional artist or anything (which means what I have to say isn't quite as useful as others'), but I can tel you this: I like your art style, especially the lightnin/demonic fire/whatever it is on the tubby guy. ALso, the shading you used gives your piece a darker, gungier (?) look that suits the drawing well.
My only (minor) complaint is that the guy on the left's pose looks a little weird, but that's just because I'm way too used to Solid Snake's pressed-up-against-the-wall pose. Excellent job, my friend! |

That fuggin' rocks, yo. When I first saw that, first thing that popped into my head is Doom. It's like if the big guy would be a Hell's Knight (or something similar) and the guy to the left is Sarge. Anyways, one thing that I'd like to point out. I do agree with Viewtiful that the guy on the left's position is a bit wonky. It looks like he's scratching his balls while holding the gun. As interesting as that would be, I doubt that's what he's doing..... Also, his torso looks like it was angled off a bit. Other than that, it's awesome! The detail kicks so much ass.. In other news, I have a drawing of my own! This one is of a guy. Just a guy, nothing too different.... WITH TELEKINETIC POWERS!!! I'm just kiddin' (or am I?). Anyways, it's just a sketch. I thought I'd post up the sketch version of it. Here it is! One more thing I'd like to add. Yes, his feet are a bit wierd. Actually, his feet are shit; utter shit. I wish I could throw them away into a trash can because it's not even worth putting them into a recycling bin (yes, drawing feet aren't my forte. I tend to beat myself 'cause of it. :P).... That is all. |
no man that's cool, i think most people would agree with me on this that style is so much more important than makin things look 'correct' or purely aesthetically pretty... Yeah thanks for the compliments guys seriously hit home.. In response to your comments, it's inspired by Shadowrun, and the dude on the left is holding a grenade in his left hand, and the way he's pressed against the wall, he's trying to listen closely without letting any of him show around the corner, if that makes sense.. But yeah, he's about to get F'd up for being a little bitch elf anyway..

WoW! Celes, that looks like a photograph.
Great attention to detail! But sadly no one caught me on my blatant fashion mag rip. I cut the pic from a mag, scanned it, then ran it through the computer. Took about 5 minutes. I guess the ? is- is this a good thing or a bad thing? WoW again! I didn't see your other pics too Celes until my post came up. The second set of faces reminds me of Dali. Especially the hair curls. Must of had some influence conscious or other wise. That does rock dorkass! Love the style and color! Done any comics? You've got the cyber punk down & mastered-! |
yeah, i do run a comic, it's on hietus til i finish some SHADOWRUN ONLINE CONCEPT ART THAT THEY ASKED ME TO DO HELL YES, you can see my comic and website with hopefully soon to be more art via the link in my signature

That being said, I think your drawing was pretty kickass, but it definitely could use improvement in the fundamentals. The elf's stance doesn't read as 'sneaking' and the troll combat mage's right arm seems unusually long. Also, the brick building that the elf is hiding behind seems like it's sort of hanging in space rather than planted firmly on the ground. Finally, in Shadowrun the tech is important, but the details in the elf's cyberware seem muddy and the grenade barely reads as a grenade. |
thanks for your input. This drawing actually turned out kinda funny because it was one of those things I didnt really think into, and I started painting it in photoshop after sketching just to kinda try some new techniques... I always thought the arm seemed long in the sketch, in that weird way that youre not really sure if it should be fixed, so i just kinda chalked it up to style...

I mostly hesitate to give criticism because it might hinder someone
on the road to developing their own style. If they change something because I told them to it might stunt a developing style for that person down the road. True there has to be some sense and balance to the work, but that comes from trial and error from the artist themselves. It's a work in progress and who knows what might become from a person's perspective on life. I don't like Picasso. But the majority of art critics think he's the end all. So I'm the minority and if I told him his perspective is off, who am I? |
