sorry I've been gone from the boards again...my only excuse is I was getting adjusted to a new school, new degree program and trying to find a new job.

on the plus side (or down side, depending on your opinion of me) I have a new CG.

A sketch i drew just recently.
I'd add color or somthing to enhance it, but my photoshop and gimp skills are next to nothing.
P.S. He's supposed to be wearing a mask ^^;

Very cool, Patrat. I love the wing detail, and the mask is awesome.

....though I can't help but think it'd be cooler if that WASN'T a mask.

Patrat 09-05-2006 06:55 PM

I prefer the mask actually, it was inspired by an artist named Vinnie Veritas, my favorite actually ^.^

Zutsu, while not bad it isn't terribly great either. the main thing that stands out for me would be the soft edged shading you are using for that picture. Instead of conveying as suit folds it looks more like he's wet in places he shouldn't be. Though he is in a very damp environment the shading on the suit folds would still be just as sharp, though in more proliferation seeing as how movements would cause more rumples and folds.

A good trick I've found to help with how clothes fold from stock photos is a three step trick. Look at the picture by itself, make a copy, desaturate and up the contrast and brightness until you get a fairly sharp contrasted image. Look at the high constrast lighting and then reduce the opacity over the main image. Or do a layer effect like Overlay/soft light/hard light/ multiply/etc. to see them in stark relief against the original picture.

it takes a few tries to get the right brightness and contrast but different settings will show different fold severity.

Another trick from Skweeb's bag o' photoshop experience to be shared with all!

I must be going crazy because I could have sworn I posted in here last night.

If my hiragana is correct, it says "MILK!" (I think it's correct)

Anyway, next I'm going to try and make something worthwhile and more technical. ^^ heh. That one was just to pass time.

Very cool CJ!
Another picture by me too!

This one is based off an actual event that happened to a friend of mine. Yeah, he didn't take it very well either...

Hahah, no sketches this time. I just thought I'd reply.

Grandmaster Skweeb:
I haven't visited the thread for quite some time, and my lastest actual posting of a picture was a couple of pages back, I didn't know what you were talking about at first. Anyways, I appreciate the critique (after realizing what you were talking about..) as always.

CelesJessa:
Interesintg picture.. Seeing as he looks naked and his hand near somewhat of his crotch, with what appears to be jizz all over his hand, it sorta gives me wierd thoughts. It looks like if he got caught and says,"IT'S JUST MILK!!" after what you mentioned about what he said. Seriously though, nifty picture.

Patrat:
Hm.. the background of the picture wierds me out. I really can't tell what's what. Backgrounds usually are detailed in order to give a sold idea of where the characters are. The ambiguous backgrounds can sometimes be cool, but only sometimes. Overall nice picture, though.

...

Curses! It wasn't supposed to be like that! >_< He's just skin-colored because that's the way that looked best for his super-deformed style.

*goes and hides my head*

Not really a sketch... in fact I drew nothing but I didn't know where else I could put my desktop tribute to Edward Elric.
