Did this for an avatar for my uni forums when I was bored. What do you think?
I've not been drawing for a while and would appreciate any pointers on where I could improve. Could anyone give me any tips? I really need to get back into the way of doing this sort of thing more.
Oh yeah, what would make a good background do you think?
Lotsa questions...
Edited to remove a lot of white space in pic

Well, that's gonna be haunting my dreams tonight. What the hell did you use for that? Marker? It looks really nice.

The coloring slowly proceeds!

Ohhh... *saves self from drool* Finish it!! Gogogo!

What did you draw Finnigan on anyway? I'm going to Loomis & Toles later this week and I want to get some 'o that.

Grandmaster_Skweeb 10-20-2006 02:22 PM

Huh? OH, yeah it's all digital. It's a mishmash of either smooth or crumpled paper stock photo found on the intarweb with an overlay of cement texture. I get drawers block when I draw on a blank white background so I use the cement paper mixes.

This is both a mix of smooth paper and smooth cement. The one I drew Booker, the cowboy with the fandangled arm glove, was crumply paper and ragged cement.

You're using a tablet to draw!? Wow, and I didn't even notice. I can only tell now... That's plain freaky.

Got a question for you Skit. Is the Draenei girl normally all blue shades like that? My eyes seem to be interpreting it as though she were wearing white, and bathed in moonlight. Regardless, you have helped me. :3nod: It's a very elegant effect I have been trying to emulate for some time.

Well, made it to the art supply store in one piece. Interestingly enough I ended up with a stack of similarly coloured 'parchment' paper. It's a bit thicker too, which is nice to work on since it doesn't get as distorted from frequent erasings and monumental backpack abuse.

Edit: Onion Knight? I'm thinkin' standing on a drawbridge, so we can see the entrance of the castle in the background.

Pants are colored in, certain areas are touched up/cleaned. Still need to add in contrast to his collarthough.

I'm more than satisfied at how this piece is turning out so far!

Ooh, that sounds good, I'll try that. Thanks Khael.
Oh yeah, and it was Pantone markers I used.
