Just out of curiosity, in what way is she your first "real" character? First character with a detailed background and personality? First character to be a main focus? First complete roleplaying character?
I can remember the creation of my most important character if I think about it. I've occasionally gone though a whole ceremony with main focus characters. Otherwise, in a non-RPG settling, they more or less come, develop, and go the way people do in real life life, without much formality. |
Yup. She was in a dream I had once, giving me hell for doing something. I figured, angry or not she was worth drawing. The rest of her nature just kinda grew - sort of like how friendships do as you learn more and more about someone. The date from her original sketch is her birthday. I don't celebrate all my characters'... That'd be over seventy cakes! That's as many as seven tens!
She's the first character to have a proper, in-depth personality. The guys I'd drawn before were either not mine (Sonic the Hedgehog, Zelda and Pokemon) or of the simple slapstick variety. They were never any deeper than Itchy and Scratchy are. Chao belongs to a world I'm working on called Tenova. It's a joint project where most of my characters now reside. Actually, only three of my characters are from D&D, and only six have no place at all yet. So that's like... still sixty people I have running amok in Tenova, not including the people my friend has added. |
No sketches in this one too.

the first character (not based off of someone I know) with some real backstory was... Danny longlegs(lame name i know)... though i have never been able to draw danny his image and story never change in my mind.
though i did get my brother to draw Danny Attachment 6164 any way his weapon is called the whip-gun (another name that does no justice) which shoots a bullet bast the sound barrier with no problem and sometimes it will shoot past light speed if the barrel is fully exstended |
No way. Danny Longlegs is an awesome name. Look, the guys I drew prior were called Speedy and Jonny K.A. Boom. Speedy was called that because I could draw him in like ten seconds. Jonny would always make Speedy explode. Like this!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...ssicSpeedy.jpg I copied the one I doodled back in grade five, and used Gimp instead of crayola markers. Damn I loved those markers. They were the smart IQ ones too, with all the extra colours like that yellow-orange and turquoise. |
This started as a self-portrait (the face, anyway) but then I got bored and turned it into this cute little pointy-eared rat-tailed thing with pigtails. I decided that I liked her, so I dubbed her Phennel.
I tried making some other people of Phennel's "species," but although I kinda like them, they give off too much of a Jak and Daxter vibe right now. Especially the armored guy. http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/3...eandryezx5.png I wanna show you guys one I did in color of Phennel, but imageshack is being a jerk right now. |

Khael - That's an awesome picture of your character. Also, the "stand on X for candy" is amazing.
ChronoPlasm- That's awesome. How big is it in real life? It looks like a big wall painting, almost. Doc Okc- Very cool. Your brother is a pretty good artist. Muave - Aww They're cute ^^ They do give a Jak and Daxter vibe, but that's not necissarily a bad thing. I like their hair. Something small I'm making for my roommate/best friend: (in attachment because imageshakes hates the light) Her birthday is tomorrow (I already gave her a gift at her party) but I made this for her, I think I'm going to print it out and hang it on the door or something. Cheesy quote to go with it: "To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world" Daaww |
Gah... too cute... brain melting...
And I agree, your brother does good work. Also, I think my first character's name was Puppy Puppy Blue Nose. In my defense, I was 6, but all in all, Danny Longlegs is a pretty awesome name. That picture of Speedy reminds me vaguely of the pictures one of my gradeschool classmates used to draw; his dudes were always about to meet horrible fates, usually through multiple means (e.g., not only would a rocket be incoming, but there might be a jet engine nearby, or maybe some arrows flying.) He'd also describe them in song while he was drawing, but our teacher finally made him stop that because she hated fun. I do remember the "birthdate" of my first real character -- incidentally, January 6, when I was 12 -- not through intention as much as a freakishly good memory for such details. (In fact, now I remember that another heavily featured character has a birthday in about 10 days from now.) My brother was out with a friend and I snuck in and stole a couple of comic books, and I was inspired. Technically, she was preceeded by two other characters that were my primary focus from age 6-9 and 10-11, respectively, but I don't count them; one was based on me and my life and the other was a Mary Sue who had the kind of life I wanted to live. Technically, they each had a personality, it just happened to be mine. Katie developed organically, and so did the people around her. Originally, she also had a younger brother, but I never really found a voice for him, so he got scrapped a while back. Poor kid. When I was searching for examples of stuff I did around that age, I did find some old drawings of Katie, but the funniest one is startlingly inappropriate, particularly for a 13-year-old (or at least, the dialogue is). Also, I may put up a link for old stuff, but otherwise I think I'll only post new things, in the interest of not being spammy. Then again, I've seen my best friend's old Paint drawings of her first character, the carnivorous plant Bushy-Ushy-Itis-Fitis... I'm apparently the only one I know who didn't have the experience of being an incredibly demented little kid. |
Woot. Imageshack is finally working.
TEH COLORS!! IN TEH GRAPHITE AND TEH COLORED PENCIL!! http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/6...elcolortf3.png For some reason I drew her carrying a bag of some sort. I dunno. I had some issues making colors match, as is probably obvious (her hair color is a mixture of three or four different tones, and I used them in the wrong order for her tail) but I still like how she turned out. |
Wrong order? What? I can't tell.
Katiuska, you have to post some of these characters your describing. They sound insane, and therefor awesome. |
The poofy end of her tail has golden yellow as the base with three shades of brown and some black layered on top. The hair on her head and the rest of her tail has light brown as the base with everything else on top. As a result, her tail looks orangey compared to her hair. I don't think it looks particularly bad, but it doesn't make much sense.
CJ- OMG IT'S SO CUUUUUTTE!!! ^^ I think your friend is going to love it! |
