Holy planet-eaters, Batman!

Wait, you do draw this stuff on the computer, right Visi? How do you get the lines so straight??

Fisi-Visi 10-23-2007 03:34 AM

A Wacom tablet, and loads of practice. For straighter lines, it comes down to a controlled stroke. Just one smooth motion should do it, though you have to get used to doing that on a Wacom tablet, which does take time. It's also very helpful to have control over the size of the canvas. ctrl+ and ctrl- will zoom in and out about 12%. For more detailed stuff, like the thickened lines around the eyes, I usually go in at 2-300%, but when I want a more dominant line that doesn't get bumpy, I go out to 50% and get it down in one stroke.

That make sense to anyone?

Khael! 10-23-2007 02:35 PM

That makes huge elephantloads of sense. I've never used a wacom tablet, so I'm not sure how the sensitivity compares to my hp tablet pc.

Smooth lines, solid strokes. And zooming out for the longer lines. Got it! I was finding a ruler just didn't work. And drawing lines really slowly made them look too dark and wiggly. 200-300% zoom??

Okay, I think I know what'll help me determine the trick here. What were the dimensions of the original image? I'm willing to bet it was a lot bigger than the one you posted on here.

Oh yeah, photobucket reduces considerably. That one was on my work computer, and I always keep them at desktop size. So I believe the resolution was 1280x1024.

1280x1024.
Perfect. That's what I was hoping to hear.

I just need to draw bigger!

Ally's Bettuw!

"Jack's Wild" (Jack fan art, (c) David Hopkins) [partial nyooditee]

(Same copyrights there, all Hopkins fanart)

Star Trek homage, with characters dropped into the Jack world. But since I forgot to actually put characters in that were featured in the comic, this doesn't have special copyrights stuff... all my characters.

Mursa's character, a person on the Jack forums.

Fan art for a contest-type thing there, too, for "Professor Hunnydew".

Mursa and Hunnydew (c) their respective owners. Same with the rest.

Katiuska- I really like that coloring... It kind of looks like... I dunno. But it looks cool. ^^

Fisi- Very awesome! I quite like the horned helmet.

Zephie- Lookin' good. That guy on the right on the first picture (the non-link one), I like his hair.

Why do I get inspiration when I have other art projects due. Regardless, I'm really excited how it's turning out:

Yeah... it's going to take pretty much forever but... I like it. I've been playing too much Metroid lately.

That's a right spiffy Samus torso you got there.

Thanks. I'm thinking about adding on some arms and legs eventually too. :D
Armor is... hard to do.

And I'm a little concerned about drawing Ridley in there... I don't know if I can draw a dragon/pterodactyl/space pirate very well.
