Yay for the thread being active again! ^o^ And it's back with a vengeance, to be sure. Excellent work all around!
Celes: Very nice lineart, I shake with envy at its cleanliness! :p Really nice though, it's shweet. I have to second red as the hair colour of choice (bah! too late), it just seems... princely. And your dance scene is neat too, very graceful-looking. Savage: Very nice fox head and accompanying body, as disturbing as the combination may be. You know, your style is rather similar to a friend of mine's. Kat: Your prettyboy is indeed very pretty (not that I'm into pretty guys :sweatdrop). Very well done indeed. The arm does seem kind of short, yeah. but otherwise nice! He looks very contemplative. And now, I present to you... a portrait of the mad! http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...itofthemad.jpg A self-portrait of sorts in a state of... upsetted-ness? Great unhappiness? Regardless of how you word it, it's my first attempt at a semi-realistic self-portrait. |
Yay for activity!!
TopHatAssassin: Thanks for the comment! Of course, all of which is much appreciated. Anyway, the the hair seems kinda odd. It's not the hairdo (Okay, maybe it is, but that's just personal preference..), it's how the left side was drawn. Like the random swooshes that come from the forehead. At first, I thought they were bangs, but I assume they are to show further detail of the spikey hair. Another thing, is around the eye region. It's not the eyes themselves, but the line above them (That are supposed to show retraction of the eye lids) seems too long and look more like thin eyebrows. Which makes it look like he's got two sets of 'em. Also, assuming that the hair starts where it's indicated, then the forehead seems a tad short. Unfortunately, it's a problem I myself come across a little too often. >.<;; I think just a tad bit more shadowing could've been done around the cheeks and below the eyes as well. The style of shading really appeals to me, and the fair amount of scribble for the facial hair is nicely done. Portraits were never really my forte, so I think it's really good for a first attempt! |
I think all it really needs is a pipe and a tophat. The pipe would be full of angry smoke of course.
Darnit, I took another picture of Cubey for size referencing, but I have to re-install the software to transfer pictures over. I also took a picture of a doodle I made depicting the big bad ugly from Cloverfield. If I post him here I'll make sure to spoiler the toony bastard. Compared to the actual thing, mine looks almost cute... |
The eyelid lines could be a little shorter, but I am liking the contour shading. He does look mad.
For what it's worth, here's what my picture looks like an as actual scan: http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/3900/scan1le0.jpg I'm planning to ink and color it within the next week or so. I want to do variations, so I need to get supplies when the first-week rush dies off here. |
You may want to give him a dude's ass then, cause that backline doesn't belong on a man...
|
Hahaha, well, I started drawing it with the intention to add a jacket, so I was mostly getting a sense of placement. I'm probably keeping a version of him like this, though, so I'll do a bit more work on the whole region.

Demetrius's comment made no sense to me and made me stare at a man's ass longer than any guy should stare at a man's ass....
katiuska: Now, his torso seems a tad too long. Also, if you wanna have realistic proportions, maybe he should have broader shoulders. Another thing, since his left arm is at a slightly higher level than his right, then I would think that his shoulder should be as well. Anyway, here's something different I did. At first, it started as a harmless sketch, but ended up coloring it and and stuff on Photoshop. The way I see it, it's a unique look on the drawing of skeletons.... Incase you can't tell, they're all wearing glasses. And, that one in the bottom left is a pirate. It was unintentional, but people kept saying it was, so I went along with it. Quite proud of that coloring, though |
That was kind of the case with the torso anyway, it's just a little more obvious now. And I'm shooting somewhere between how he looks in anime renderings and how a living person would look... so I mean, I want the proportions to be a little more realistic than the former, but there's flexibility. EDIT: I tried the pose myself and remembered that I'd drawn the shoulders like that because he's twisting himself to the left. Basically, he's postured in a weird way that's hard to convey without madder skills, though the slope may still be wrong. I'll tweak it and see if it helps anything.
Chibi skeletons! Yeah, the coloring's well done. The top one is clearly a ninja, and the one on the right looks like a pimp. o.O |

Dude, a man's ass is a sticky outy thing, a woman's is a curvy part of the body. Look at the picture and figure it out.
