"Hell's Angels". Its a bike gang name I've heard a few times.

Yeah, that Bear is flipping you off. What are you going to do about it?

Khael! 05-09-2008 10:30 AM

I'll laugh? I enjoy your little one-panel comics. They're funny. And the biker one, after making me laugh, reminded me of a comment my brother once made... Every time you see a bike gang, you must imagine the motorbikes are invisible. Because the way people sit on motorbikes is silly looking!

I still gotta find that binder of mine...

Celes 05-09-2008 02:02 PM

@_@ Ever been up for hours but feel like most of you was still in bed? *more coffee* xD

The other Celes xD - Thanks! The Link card was with marker and coloured line pen thingies.

Just did this this morning... mostly for the 'something different from my recently usual'-ness... >_<; Though somehow it came out looking still typical so... ehehe... .__.;

Comments all around, woo! Lots to do, too. :p (Lord have mercy).

Celes: First off, welcome to the group (don't think I've said that yet. :p). Your style is quite awesome, I like it. Very refreshing, and also... nostalgic? In particular with your robot fox/dog/Megaman piece. Trés cool!

CJ: Rockin' the Samus again, right on! ^o^ I like that little one, where she's striking a pose (We can do it! :D). I have a strong urge to colour it, for some reason...

Hah Brute Force, is that his name? That's great! And holy crap, he has a lot of weapons. One question: What's behind him? I see a red shape between his legs but I'm not sure what it belongs to. Also, that is a TIGHT shirt. =D
I'm afraid his name isn't Brute Force, he's rather anonymous. It's more his character really, the whole "Kill first, ask questions later" approach. As for the thing between his legs, it's the bottom of the sheath for that large sword on his back. Awkward, I know. :p And you know, that is a rather tight shirt, yes. All for the ladies. :D

Savage: Fancy work again, as usual. I like that outline of yourself you did, it's really cool. And nice work with the tablet. I wouldn't have guessed it's related to bananas, though. :p

Mauve: Cool faces! Y'know, he looks kinda like Naruto, if Naruto was more badass and had black hair. :p

TDK: Your art never ceases to amaze and awe. :p I would say the copious amount of bears borders on unhealthy if bears weren't so darn cool. And kudos on the straighterness of your dudes, it really helps.

Batgirl: Cool beans on your pieces. Is it wrong that I'm jealous of your shading? :p

Pocheros: Bottom one looks awesome. Just plain awesome.

PCD: Wonderful pelvic thrust. Puts mine to shame. :p And you know, I think many people would look like that should their cake end up getting mysteriously wet.

Spoiler tags for the win!
Wow, you guys draw a lot. :p And now, without further ado...

This man is crying. Manly tears. Tears that flow while he's busy breaking a bus in half over someone's face.

TDK 05-09-2008 10:22 PM

So, I went to an art show in Philidelphia (About five hours from here) today. Lots of cool stuff, underneath the abstract and modernist shit. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, lots of cool stuff. It has inspired me.

My sister's boyfriend won an award for some animal drawings he did. He's a sophomore in the philidelphia institute of fine arts, which is where the art show was. The art in the show was juniors and seniors. Seriously, some of these people made five figures just selling their art today. And they haven't even GRADUATED.

But really. FUCK Philidelphia. I fucking hate cities. Loud, annoying, people are assholes, food sucks (Well, fast food. The philly cheese steak is the best thing ever.), and shit. Although, I did get to see a building get demolished. Contrary to looney tunes, the wrecking ball was more marshmallow shaped than round. And it didn't swing hard at all.

Overall, it was a good day, though.

TDK - Scary bear! But humorous. =D

Celes - Very nice. I quite like the folds in her shirt. Very soft feel to it.

Tophat - Hah tha'ts funny. I love the manly tears. Nice hair too.

I finally got back all of my stuff from my design class. They're all just exercise-type stuff to make us think about aspects of art, so don't get too excited.

First thing we did, focused on focal points. We had to cut out 36 3x3 boxes and do designs on them, and then put them together in a pleasing way. (we didn't know we'd be putting them together while we were designing each box)

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/1218/focal1fm9.jpg

We designed and cut out 9 shapes (and smaller scales of each shape) and were supposed to use them to make a design, taking into account focal point n' stuff. I mostly just used 2 of my shapes (and different size variations of it)
http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/6701/focal2ix0.jpg

This one should be somewhat familiar. This is the final version of it. Stippling that ball was a big pain in the butt.
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6499/labrunthyu1.jpg

And this one, we were supposed to color in every other line in 3 pieces of notebook paper, and then roll one into a curved plane, one into a crumpled ball, and fold one into a shape, and then we used pen to make the shapes just by drawing the black lines on the paper (we weren't allowed to draw the contours of any of the pieces at all, or else we would have to start from scratch)
http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/3972/stripesyv9.jpg

I used so much pen this year...

Sorry they're not very interesting! I'm much more used to drawing from observation than I am to designing, but that's the point in me taking the class. =D

I love how you did the shading/coloring. It looks very nice, and I like the white line around the subject. Fantastic coloring, once again. (I keep looking closely at it, trying to get ideas for future coloring, as that's the part I always have trouble with)
Thanks! The coloring process was all just experimentation. A lot of trial and error occured in the process. As for the white line, I thought that the actual picture was hard to tell apart from the background, so I added it to better see the picture.

Heheh, I've been loving the use of the tablet at school. I usually just get a random picture and trace over it during class time. As for what I'm actually supposed to be working on? Psh, it can wait 'till later..

Celes:
Looks awesome, although the upper half of her right arm looks weird to me. The shoulder looks kinda out of whack and too long. No matter how much I try to see it, her left arm makes zero sense to me.

I'm loving the hair though. I've practiced drawing flowy hair myself, it's not really easy at all. Also, the ear looks too close to the eyes. May be just the style, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Awesome picture none the less!

THA:
Looks cool, but the main thing that bothers me is the nose. Refuses to make sense to me. Everything from his neck down looks wonky. Maybe some more definition of his cheek bones may better justify the angle of his tears, perhaps? Just a suggestion.

CJ:
Hooray for more artsy stuff! That first one is a unique approach to focal points (even if it could be seen to some extent as unintentional). I assume the focal point is where all the round lines are? Looks cool. I like how all the heavy and dark lines are basically pointing at focal point.

I like how the second one leads your eyes around the picture. Good balanced between light and dark shapes.

That third one looks awesome (as been mentioned previously before it was done i nthe thread). Was the ball supposed to be a reflection of what's surrounding it? If so, then it could use some improvements. The picture looks awesome though!

For the fourth one, were you supposed to make whatever it was then use that as a model to draw it on paper only drawing the black lines? If so, then that'd be something interesting to try. I bet the crumpled one must've been loads of fun.

Actually, it's supposed to be, like, inside the ball is basically the same thing that you see outside of the ball (and it just keeps going on into infinity)

Yeah that's what we did. It's fun, but really surprisingly hard. I got very pissed off at it, to the point that my professor told me that I had to move onto a different part of the picture. (that flat curved one killed me)

TDK 05-11-2008 01:22 PM

Trying out my new inking pen, drawing pad, and scanner. Plus, I watched temple of doom today. Buh-bum bum bum BUM, bum bum BUM!

Edit: Goddammit, I just noticed I forgot the thumb on his left hand.

CelesJessa 05-12-2008 12:19 AM

TDK - It looks really nice when it's all inked. I like it.

Just a quicky sketch from me I did in a couple minutes:

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/5527/sexylinkqa9.jpg

Amusing story behind it: for my link cosplay, I needed white leggings, but I couldn't find any (for cheap). The only thing I could find that was thick enough were this pair of thigh-high stockings, complete with a really kind of kinky looking bow at the top. Although you can't see the bow with the costume, it still makes me laugh, thinking of Link with thigh-highs on.

Sadly, this is the first thing I drew in my new sketch book, so now I'm having visions of my relatives wanting to look through my drawings and opening it to this... Whoops...
