FF6 Underground - Prologue
Coal and Ash, Coal's dog, approached the the town of Narshe's gate, which it seems had been blasted open. Coal grimace. 'Magitek...' he though, The Empire seeks the power of the Espers without knowing how to use it.' Two guards ran up to him. "Sorry, kid. Town's off limits."
"I'm not here to take the Esper, only to harvest its Magicite. Now let me through." "Majicite?" asked one of the guards, puzzled. "Yes, the stuff of magic, now let me throught." Coal tried to push them aside, but took the blunt end of a spear to the stomach, and was send flying through the air, landing a few feet from Ash. The dog yipped and ran to his master's side. He then turned his head towards the guards and growled. "Now see here," said Coal, getting up and pulling a grey crystal from a pocket concealed in his coat. "If you think you can stop that easily..." the crystal glowed, the spirit of a great bird with powerfull wings flew to his side. It flapped its wings as hard as it could, blowing the guards through the air into the wall surrounfing Narshe. I flew on top of them and pinned each one down with one of it's talons. It squacked. Coal and Ash took off through the hole in the gates, the guards helplessly shouting at them. Ash barked playfully in response, but kept running. After a few blocks, the crystal in Coal's hand lost it's glow, and shattered. Lesser Majicite. Sometimes dropped by ceatures of Magical origin for their spirit to be kept. After being summoned, they could move on to the afterlife, and the crystal would shatter. OOC: You may have noticed I'm bending the Majicite story, that's to make Coal a bit more interesting, seeing as he basically summons creatures from Lesser Magicite. The members are myself, DB, swordmaster, Phobic, possibly OmniShadow, and Total Calamity. |
"The mayor of Narshe is involved in a rebellion trying to destroy the Empire. Eliminate him."
***** Standing outside the mayors bedroom window Morvak could feel the wind tugging at his cloak. It was cold and he could feel something in the air, something... different. He couldn't place it, so he put it aside and concentrated on his mission. He knew what he had to do, enter the house silently and kill the mayor in his sleep, not allowing the guards outside the bedroom door to hear him. It was tough, but he knew he could manage it. The window was no problem, Morvak had opened thousands of windows silently and in worse conditions than this. Once inside he took in as much as he could, seeing what he could do if anything unexpected arouse. The fire was nearly out, throwing dull shadows around the room. As Morvak stepped up to the mayor's bed he pulled out the poison he was to use to make his death look peaceful, not as an assasination. The mayor was old, so it would be understood by the people. The mayor was an adventurer in his time and wasn't one to let his guard down, but it seemed in his old age he was slipping out of hi paranoia of people sneaking up on him. Morvak pushed the covers away from the mayors face so that the poison could be ingested, but just then the mayor smashed Morvak with a greenish rock, knocking Morvak back a few steps. As Morvak looked up he saw a huge monster leap from the rock towards him, he suddenly realized what the rock was: majicite. He had only heard rumors of its power, but right now he wasn't in the mood for finding out. He jumped out the window and hid down in the ally. Nothing moved. He stood in the ally for a few minutes, making sure no one was coming after him. He didn't hear anything, but as he waited he thought about what had happened, or really what had not happened; the mayor was still alive. He had failed the Empire. Morvak knew he couldn't go back to the Emperor for he would be killed for failing, even after nine years of faithful dedication. His only option it seemed was to hide and find some sort of protection from the Empire. He thought about what he had just witnessed from the majicite and remembered that there was supposedly an esper in the mines to the north... Only the most swift of eyes could have seen the shadow headed towards the mines... |
As Coal and Ash entered the town, Coal couldn't help but notice a young green-haired girl and a tall rogueish, and not to mention incredibly farmiliar man. Ash turned towards the girl and barked. "Easy, boy. I feel it to, but her powers are dormant." he said, more concerned with the man escorting her. 'Locke...' he thought, After all these years. He began to walk away, and gestured for Ash to follow. "Besides," he said, "I have a feeling we'll meet again."

Darius was lounging in the bar with a few friends. He wasn't supposed to be working, but in a town like this there's nowhere else to relax. Up at the bar one of the esper researchers was yelling at the bartender for giving the locals better prices on drinks. Realizing his services may be needed, Darius heads towards the bar in time to hear "Do you know who I am? Do you you know what I can do? You shouldn't be gouging a man who can destroy this whole bar!"
Darius taps the man on the shoulder and says "that might not be such a good idea, maybe you should find someplace else to drink." The researcher simply looks at Darius with disdain, scoffs and turns back to berating the bartender. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a strangely luminescent stone. "Do you know what this is?! Do you know what i can do with this?!" Know the answer to neither question Darius decides its time to help the researcher leave the bar, and so proceeds to grab the nearest stool and club him over the head with it. After replacing the stool neatly at its table, Darius drags the unconscious researcher into the alley with the rest of the trash. deciding that all the visitors have made the bar a little to wild for his liking Darius decides he should probably head home before he gets himself in trouble, and exits the ally toward the street. |
Magiwich was walking through Narshe on that night. All the commotion usually means treasures, ripe for the taking. After searching through houses for money and such, he saw that several Magitek were walking through the town. *Hum* he thought to himself, *better follow those. They're bound to drop something*
Magiwich follows the Magitek into the cave and watches as the events unfold... |
Coal and Ash wandered the streets of Narshe, searching for leads as to the mines and the frozen Esper. They rounded another corner, running straight into Darius. Ash yelped and tackled the man. "Ash, HEAL!" commanded Coal. The dog obeyed. Coal helped Darius tohis feet. "Which way are the mines."
|
After brushing himself off darius points in the direction of the mines "they're over there, just follow the road and you can't miss it. . . Wait a minute, you're not another one of those crazies after the esper they discovered are you? What's the big deal with that thing anyway? It's just another stupid monster frozen in ice." Then realizing he may have offended Coal, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't bother you." with this Darius begins to walk home again.
|
Coal shook his head. "You have no clue what power an Esper harnesses, do you? These wondrous creatures create a substance known as Magicite," he began, holding up a small crystal "some locking away their powers, some, who deicde to allow it's finder their full power, lock away their entire soul. Magicite, althought believed myth, is real." He turned to face Darius. "And if I were you, I would try to tap into this power source, before it's exhausted."

OOC: Seems im in now ^_^ Thanks Kardin.
IC: Seph was sitting on the roof of a house in the far end of Narshe, hiding from the magiteh riding impereals. "Did they trace me here? Or are they here for something else..." He said to himself but then noticed something was happening under him. "Some big guy bumped into another smaller guy with a dog and a conversation started. Something about an Esper. 'Sounds like something interesting, I think I should follow him.' Seph thought. OOC: Was that an okay starter post for my character? |
Overhearing the conversation, a man in a blue cloak looked away from the items in a shop's display window, and turned to look at the two men and the dog standing a short distance behind him.
"Interesting, to meet someone who knows so much about Magicite...you're either a scholar, or a Magicite-hunter." Elam remarked quietly, "You don't look much like a scholar...but then again, what hunter would advise others to provide him with competition?" |
