New Interrogating Techniques Used on Prisoners
 

Don't know what to think about this one. Anyone else hear about this? Make sure and read the 3rd posting.

Wow, that’s just, whoa. I mean we clam to be the good guys and then we pull this shit. I know that this is a serious matter but if anyone ever wanted to make the case that we are pure evil to an Islamic population that would pretty much do it. This “interrogation technique” would destroy any man of faith and cause deeper wounds than any physical torture technique.

I don't condone this type of action, but that is the point...to get past physical torture since a lot of it is unethical (like that really matters).

How is this torture? There are people who pay for this kind of stuff.

I don't think that's over the edge at all. Would anyone like to suggest another, more effective and humane form of interrogation? I think it's completely worth it in order to save lives.

Yes there are people who pay for this, but im willing to wager that most of them don’t believe that such actions will cut them off from what they feel is the reason for there existence. To separate a man of faith from is god is one of the most devastating things one can do, it is as psychological damaging as killing a loved one in front of them.

How can someone think this is ever an argument? "Some people do it for fun", " some people pay for it"... obviously, these people aren't forced into doing things or having things done to them. Some people enjoy having pain inflicted upon them, it doesn't make physical torture any better, and I think the same goes for mental torture.

Of course, that's much less over the top than certain other things that apparently have been done these last few years, but these were also justified by the same kind of reasoning. I find it very concerning.

And, as one of the commenters said, these are "alleged terrorists", so that would be "for allegedly saving lives".

I wasn't using that as a serious argument. It was a joke. People really need to lighten up. When I first heard about this on the news, I thought it was hysterical. The problem on these forums is that when you make a joke, you have to keep your head protected because everyone is going to try to bite it off.

I know it's a weak argument to say that we could be doing worse. But it isn't like we're ripping out toenails or anything. If this is the only way to get them to talk without resorting to violence, I have no problem with it.

oh and the whole "we don't knooooow if they are terrorists...we just dont knooooooow!"
and you know what? that mentality sends planes into buildings...better safe than sorry.
