Attention all members of unit FOXHOUND (Or MGS fans)!
I have come upon this graceful words.
http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/569/569149p1.html Hideo Kojima is now an even more superior being than he already was. I'm very intrested to see where this goes, and make it reality. Also, I'm convinced that Mr. Kojima should be directly involved in the development of this movie, and David Hayter is also related in some way to his character (Solid Snake), at least in the voice acting. Also, I have encountered this, speculations to who the characters might be (it's al theory, don't panic, guys): Metal Gear Solid.net Opinions anyone? |

The games alone were a movie. I watched one of my friends play through all three in a row a few nights ago, and I had no problem just watching. The first thing I said when he beat the last one was..."movie." Whoever did the actor predictions got them all perfect, I think. But, if John Woo films it... |
If John Woo does it, Snake will appear and doves will fly up behind him in slow motion then explode in a massive pyrotechnics display. That's just the way Woo does films.

I am a film nut and a MGSaholic, and the said friend that Bob said blasted through the trilogy for. I have been a MGS film advocate since oh...my first play through, but always deemed it physically impossible. Corporations only go for movies with breasts and mindless plots. Now we have a push to have argueably the greatest story ever in the gaming world set to film. This should be co-directed, with Hideo being one of the directors and overseeing the process. I will murderify anyone who advocates John Woo for this film. As for the casting on that guys site...I've never been more excited! with the exception of Vin Diesel "who is great, but isn't looking like a 7 foot massive shaman to me" I can see the potential engine turning. Pray to the film gods, because a movie of MGS will make its epic story immortal for generations to come |
i love metal gear and i cant wait for the movie the first mg game i played was a demo disc
I AM PROUD TO SAY I PLAYED THAT DEMO MORE THEN I PLAYED MY REAL GAMES(cept when i got the real metalgear) |
The guy has a good eye for casting, I think (at least in the case for the MGS movie). One thing: I don't want Woo to touch this film--he would turn it into poopoo. If anyone were to direct the movie, I would like it to be someone who has played the games and can appreciate the material, but also work with Kojima in working with the film. In fact, it would be pretty cool if Kojima co-directed and wrote the script himself. Anyway, I especially like the idea of Alba as Meryl, and Kilmer for Liquid Snake. Unfortunately, I dont see how any producer, no matter how charismatic and persistent, could get all of these A list actors in the same movie. If, by some stretch of the imagination, he or she did get all of those actors, it would probably be one of the biggest films ever made; not to mention half of the trailers and commercials for the movie would be the announcer reading off these big name actors.

At school can't view it now.
But I just have one major concern about the movie. I just hope that whoever directs it does not turn it into a shoot out movie (that mean no Woo) and somehow captures the fact that it is a STEALTH GAME without making it boring. Thats my only worry. The games would make a great movie, if not for the whole stealth, action bad except at prescripted moments thing. Perhaps during long stealth parts they should scroll to the command room with the general discussing how important this is, or a shot of the president in his cell before Solid Snake comes in, etc. Long stealth parts or shoot outs whenever Solid Snake moves from one place to the next could ruin it. |
There is a bridge that this movie can take place in. Well two bridges, one more likely then the other. After MSG3: Big Boss becomes this major bad ass mercenary getting hired by everyone to kill everything, that would make a good movie and still be attached to the games. Antoher gap in between the VERY FIRST MG (on the NES) and MGS1. It's not a big one, but there could be some potential for some sort of story to happen. The fact that the movie may not have anything to do with the games just doesn't sit with me when there is such a good gap to fill in the story.
That cast picked out would make one hella good movie. But that is only wishfull thinking. I don't think they all would get paid what they want for it to work. |
I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) there was already a Metal Gear movie in the late 80s/early 90s. I think Snake had a mullet in it. Oh and there already was Metal Gear 2 on the MSX in between MG1 and MGS1.

Russel Crow has no right to even be associated with Metal Gear, let alone Solid Snake.
If there is any justice in this world, a Metal Gear movie will never be made by anyone save for a bunch of fanboys to post on the internet. Because, you know they would. Damn fanboys. I'm sick and tired of having Hollywood destroy everything that I love, have loved, and will one day love. Even if Hideo Kojima helmed this project the entire way, the odds of it living up to expectations that would follow it are small to begin with. After all, even Mr. Kojima lets us down. Remember Metal Gear Solid 2? Remember Raiden? Now don't you wish you could go back in time and not experience the letdown that was Metal Gear Solid 2? I don't want to have to do that with a Metal Gear Movie. We love you, Mr. Kojima. We love the things you've done for us. But we are a very angry society. We will turn on our loved ones if they hurt us. You hurt us with Metal Gear Solid 2. Don't hurt us again. I don't want your blood on my hands ... |
