Personally I'd go with either one...But in reality DS is going to come out on top.
1. Track record- Nintendo Has dominated the handheld industry basically since it began 2. Durability- the PSP looks like it would snap if you dropped it and I'm kinda clumsy sometimes as other people are... 3. Kid Friendly- Although I'm not a kid I know that many parents will buy the DS over the PSP for their kids based on the child friendly image that Nintendo has crafted (and is trying to somewhat break by the way). 4. Touch screen- need I say more? 5. Battery Life- same question It may seem like I'm a Nintendo sympathiser but I also realize PSP has several things going for it that could sway people's desisions 1. PS2 is the best selling system in the current Generation of Consoles 2. Grown up image- rangles the crutual demographic of mid to late teens and 20s 3. Music and movie power (though those could be considered a negitive. Remember N-Gage?) 4. Sony is getting a fanbase that could soon come close to Nintendo's if it is not already there... So I'm basically Nueteral because I have no money. Until Next time, I Love GGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLDDDDDDD! (and swords) Love, Death By Stabbing |
You know that as for the DS, I'm sure its going to be replaced by some form of virtual reality game system one of these days. Probably like a set of googles and gloves that connect wirelessly to some sort of reciever that allows the player to use the system. I'm sure Nintendo's already thinking of it.

I don't see what all the fuss is about the touchscreen, have you ever played with your palms ? for more than an hour ? this application peripheral whatever isn't that good it is just nintendos way to make more money. And I also support the idea of DS becoming obsolete ever since my GBC whent obsolete so fast against GBA ( I damn Nintendo to damnation). And sure they still have production for the older system but come on, Madden 2005 I believe also came out for Ps1 but did you go out and buy it ? or did anyone for that matter ?
Viva la PSP joystick |
If you mean your hand:A plam? how do you use your plam on a touch screen? It would take up the entire screen...
If you mean mean a personel organiser: dude those things aren't supossed to be made for gaming, I mean the organizers not some high technnogly with really great graphics and good controls... Either way, I have made somewhat of a point. |
I'm guessing that when he said palms he's refering to the fact that your hand has to be tightened around the stylus when you're using it. Either way I agree with him that the DS sucks. I really didn't like what they (Nintendo) did to the Metriod game.

And the Metroid game isn't even out yet so you can't complain about anything yet. |

Anyways I put this in a diffrent thread because there was some say about a new gameboy coming out. I realised I had to put it here to. Quote:

Did they say a Gamboy Player?
That would mean we could play SM64 on the GCN... A story about innovation: Without innovation, there would be no home video games. Nintendo said, screw society and declining vdieogames, were being different and making home console games. It was a sucess Then they said, screw "home console games" we'll make them portable It was a sucess Then they said, screw 32-bit and lets make 3-D games It was a sucess then they said, screw portable systems, lets make an idea to play touch screens And most likely, it will be a sucess. Without innovation, we would STILL be playing at the arcades. Face it kid, innovation moves the industry, and so far, Nintendo is the only one who takes any risks. X-Box simply is improving their graphics, woo-pe-dee-do. Lets see a videogame system WITHOUT the need of a controller and button smashing. Guess what, Nintendo probably is doing that, too. |
late posting
Nintendo being a risk taker ? probably, but not quite. Sure they took risks with virtual boy, but after one month, when they saw that it was all going down the gutter, support was cut-off. And moving games into your home? i believe the ataris PONG was the first, and coming with cartridges was the Atari 2600,these two are in case your not taking in account the odyssey..(*shudder*). On a more recent basis I believe Sega was the highest roller of them all pioneering with the sega saturn, sega cd.
On another note, Why exactly do you think these palms are not design for gaming, because touch screen is not intended for gaming, nintendo just didn't have a better idea on how to take your money!. So if your going to get a nintendo DS, sure go and get it I don't even care if you flame the psp (not saying YOU are), just dont try and prove how "innovative" or "usefull" the touchscreen and/or two screens is, because it really isn't. PS. I'm not getting either one I retired to PC gaming 3 years ago, but I seriously think the PSP is better. |
