Perditions Tale, Chapter 9: "The Heat of Battle"
 

The creature still stomped through the forest, heading for its den, by now, it was almost upon its pile of the other dead bodies.

*meanwhile*

Thid was slowly making his way down the incline, his bow drawn, while Cesia was inching her way up. They finally met in the middle, but in the darkness of the cave, Thid and Cesia tripped over each other, the they both went rolling down the incline again. When they hit the bottom, Cesia cracked her head on a rock at the bottom, rendering her unconcious.

Thid started to pick himself up off of the cavern floor, but he stopped when he felt warm breath on his leg... They weren't alone, and whatever was down there with them knew they were there...

(OOC: Just FYI, the creature (which shall remain unnamed ^_^ ) is taking Kalimare back to its 'nest' to feed it's child. Just thought I'd let you know 'cause I'm not sure how often I'll be on tonight, and I don't want anyone to be really confused all night of what the heck the monster is doing with Kalimare.)

I figured that that was what the big monster was doing... I mean, there being a nest right there with all of the dead things right in front of it.... with something down in the cavern ^^;

Thid peered around in the dim light and saw Cesia next to him. Ah crap, I guess i should have waited outside.

Then Thid felt the warm breath on his leg.
Well, at least she's still alive and brea...wait a minute, here head's over there...what's breathing on my leg?


He groped about in the semi darkness for the source of the breath and his hands came to rest on an unusually shaped object. Humm, i wonder what this is, it's sort of squishy, but up here a little ways it's hard like bone.

The creature gives a squak of displeasure and sniffs Thid. Ah, that's what it is. It’s a monster....IT"S A MONSTER!!!

[OOC] Ok, i have three options for Thid that i can't decide upon. The first one is that he passes out.

The second one is that he makes a cowardly escape, only remembering to take the princess because his bow is resting next to her.

The third option is that he gives the baby monster some food to occupy it while he thinks of something. [OOC]

There was a brief rustle behind Thid. A hand slipped around his mouth, and pulled his away.

Ark slipped forward and stabbed the thing quickly. "Damnit you two! I've been trying to find you for god knows how long. These little things are all over the caves, but I think I saw the main nest. Much bigger one. No clue what the frick these things are."

He stepped over to Cesia, "Sorry for dissapearing. Now, can we get movin'?" He sheathed his sword and picked her up into a shoulder carry.

OOC: Thank you RotK game. Shelob's children people. Shelob's children.

ooc: she is knocked out near thid who found a baby monster so get killin.

OOC: Actually, find the RotK game and play the Shelob level. That's how I'm treating this, I.E. God knows how many of thsoe little bastards, then the biggie and it's big child.

((OOC: short post, but for a reason))

Kalimare was almost completely unconscious as he was drug closer to the lair. He knew it was almost over unless someone saved him. The blood flowed from his arm, which was skewered in the beast's teeth. The beast continued its movement to its lair, still unaware of those other than Kalimare.

"That’s a good idea," Said Thid in a stage whisper.

Then he collected his bow and some of the arrows that had spilled out of the quiver and accumulated at the bottom. Whew, it's a good thing i keep my special arrow separate from the rest, i don't want to lose that. Hey, she dropped some of her knifes. I guess i should take those too.

Gerek picked up the knifes and deposited them in his pocket, I'll give these back to Cesia when she wakes up.

Then Thid followed Ark up out of the den, they made their way slowly because of the steepness of the entrance.

OOC: I would think even as babies, they would still have rather tough hides(Just saying)

Lynx continued to whistle, ignoring the noises he heard the rest of the group making in the forest.

Ark didn't go the way Cesia and Thid had fallen in. Instead he went an alternate way that took them through an earily lit set of tunnels. Through brief slits in the wall they could see a rather large squealing monster. Probably the big-baby.

Eventually they got to the end and Ark led Thid up a really steep incline, then broke to the right. And walked through the wall. Then popped back out to grab Thid and yank him through. They had just popped out of the side of a sheer stone face.

Ark gently lowered Cesia to the ground and collapsed. "Found this completely by accident. Do we know what happened to everyone else?"
