ghost in the shell 2:innocence

has any one seen the second part to the awesome anime ghost in the shell, its visuals are absolutely stunning, and the story takes place 3 yrs after the events in the first one, so, if anyone has seen it, please post about it here.

yeah, I've seen it, it was good, though I do think I like the original more, batou is just a little more boring.

However visually it does make up for any boringness that batou brings to the table.

The only problem I had with the movie is that there is no dub version. and I'm not trying to bring in some big dub vs sub war, but it's always nice to have the option

True, Batou isn;t as dynamic a character as the Major, but the whole story is about how he deals with the Majors disappearance. Plus, I absolutely loooove all the symbolism (although they did kind of go crazy with all the existential quotage)

I'm awaiting the viewing of this film very impatiently. As a Shirow fan, I'm sure the movie doesn't do his original idea justice, but it's nice to see the portrayal anyway.

Batou, in the original movie, was my favourite character, above the Major herself, but definately far below the fuchikoma. I love that hunk of metal. Mwah.

I'm with you there Rai. The Fuchikomas stole the manga. I didn't see them in the first movie. Or were they in it, and I just missed them?

They really "broke onto the scene" in the first television series.

Innocence was visually splendid and fairly good, though it's difficult to seem original or new given the overall plot of such a series/movie. Almost inspired me to purchase the first movie while I awaited its release to home video.

Rather than re-iterate everyone from the earlier GITS 2 thread, I'll just direct you here. I had the following to say in that thread.

The quality of the first movie has more to do with the director (Mamoru Oshii, I believe) than anything.

Same director, and he wrote the script too. Overall, it was well done, but I thought there could have been a bit more action. Also, it seems that everyone in the future makes ample use of obscure quotes during conversations. But still, it was good. Lots of CG backgrounds mixed with regular animation for the characters.

Kusanagi had to fight the Fuchikoma near the end of the film. Otherwise, they're excellent in the manga. I'm looking for the model kit so I can build my own little statue. (And hope and pray that one day they invent a little fuchikoma robot to fulfill my desires.)

I thought that was one of those heavy tanks she had to fight. Like the one she fought in Chap. 8 of the manga.

RaiRai 02-27-2005 12:59 PM

It's an armored fuchikoma, yes. ^^
