The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead

Wow. This is perhaps one of the most important books you could ever read. Until I read it, I was completelly unprepared for a zombie outbreak. But now, now I could defend my home from even a class 4 outbreak! Anyone else read this book? The best part has to be the "recorded attacks" part at the end.
Plus, Max Brooks wrote it, isn't that Mel Brooks' son?
Website here. Warning though, it's flash heavy. Though it has some excerpts from the book

read it, interesting, but not gonna buy it.

Out of curiousity whats a level 4 outbreak though?

Holy crizzap! I gotta get this (and the ninja book). Dyamn, my Cool Book shelf is filling up. I think I like reading more than I used to.

I'll have to look for this next time I'm in a book store. Definately entertaining, and I'd like to see where the author and I disagree on zombie survival tactics. I must echo Aerozord's question, what is a class four outbreak? The site only went up to level 3.

Yeah, I read that a while ago. I remember alot of interesting things about zombie traps, weapons, and which vehicles to use or avoid. It was written by Mel Brook's son, by the way.

I often enjoy dark satire, and I really liked this book, but it was a little too heavy on the seriousness. If you pick this book up (it'll be in the humor section) don't expect any punchlines, not even any subtle ones. Its a survival guide, pure and simple, and sticks very hard to the survival formula.

I'd suggest it as a gift for any of the odd people you know.

Mel Brooks...what connection does he have with zombies again?

This is a book I need to get a hold of. I saw it a few weeks ago (as is evident in my sig).

The team that created Resident Evil needed to read this book first.

Ha! I was justing reading this book a few days ago. I've had it for a while, and I love it. I bought it just after watching Night of the Living Dead, I think.

Now, for all those people asking what a class 4 outbreak is, let me tell you. If I recall correctly, a class 4 is basically a doomsday scenario when zombies become the dominate species on the planet.

Which means Cybren must have a fortress in the woods somewhere. I think I'm only good up through a class 2.

Aerozord 02-22-2005 11:39 AM

well that would be all thats left, but I dont think Class 4 is possible for two reasons

1) if things were that bad we would nuke the things, or come up with anti-zombie weapons, something.
2) According to the guide, food would become too hard to come by to support a large zombie population. I mean we aren't talking about things that take into account over-hunting. They just eat and eat untill there is nothing left, and I dont care how unrealistic it is; if it moves it needs energy and if it needs energy it has to eat

gurusloth 02-22-2005 12:59 PM

I'd say that a Class 4 scenario is possible. I can easily see zombie hordes taking out enough people to render the zombie more populous than a normal human. However, if pockets of humanity were able to hole up long enough, the zombies would eventually collapse due to all their soft tissues rotting.

That is, unless you factor in the possibility of smart zombies, or zombies that aren't really dead, like in 28 Days Later.
