Seafaring Story information thread.
 
As is a general liking to my roleplays, I don't have any specific guidelines in mind. People are welcome to hop in whenever they feel the urge and they can either be a long standing player, or a one-time character.

If anyone has any questions regarding this roleplay, interest, like/dislike, whatever, then you're welcome to post here.

Edit: Which reminds me, what type of weapons are you guys allowing? Anything magical?

There is no specific time setting. I couldn't really think of an era to set it in.

It's not exactly modern day, so no hi-tech weapons or magic please. Swordsmanship, assassins, the usual hand to hand combat and pistols, 'cause I dig guns in these types of roleplay. Just a realistic playing style.

Oh and before people think I am saying its like the anime I'm not. Merely stating the technology level is about the same. I am assuming guns are early designs so they aren't too accurate and only a skilled marksman can actually use them well

Concerning chocobo's last post, I have a few reservations about that. A ram would be a very poor maneuver first of all because it counteracts the captain's own wishes to not have the magenta sunk, as there is a high chance of sinking because you would have to ram us with the bow. That could cause a huge hole in the side.

Second, because of the nature of ramming, your men would have to brace themselves as well and there is simply no way they could board the ship before our drunken angry fighting force was back on their feet. These are pirates, they are used to being drunk and fighting, boarding ships and all that. You said in your own posts the majority of your crew are fresh.

It just makes me worry that you're going to ignore practicalities through an attempt to take over the magenta, when it in fact would be far more difficult. Not even taking into account the helmsman of the magenta steering into your ram, or taking defensive actions. sea-ships are slow enough that we would know what you were planning long before you could execute the maneuver properly, as you'd have to aim differently.

I know I am going to lose this fight, and I know I am probably sending the whole damn crew to their deaths. But my character doesn't know that. Also, the ship doesn't have a ram, so it won't do very much damage, just shake up both ships really badly. If fact, this is my character's first ram, he doesn't really know what he is doing, he is just going on about it due to a bunch of rumors he has heard. Most of this I was going to make clear in the next few posts, but I guess I can go ahead and let you know it now. I am also planning on the Magenta trying to get out of the way too, that way the Zealot (My ship) would only scrap by, possible throw us in a defenseless position. If you haven't guessed it, I planned this to have fun, not to win.

EDIT: If you still do not like the ramming idea, I am willing to change it.
