I`m wondering if i should join CoH

from the way brian talks about it so much, i was wondering if it`d be worth it to look into this and maybe become a player?

I joined it when it was in beta and continued with it for about three months. After that I got bored with it and quit from all MMORPGs. Until my friend here in college introduced me to World of Warcraft. I say you join WoW instead. Me and a few friends here can supply you with pretty much anything you need, and the game itself beats CoH in every field.

And isn't this supposed to be in the video games section? :/

[Edit] And I'm pretty sure Brian plays WoW too.

City Of Heroes is good, it's really good for the weekend warrior MMO people, however, if you're looking to play this game round the clock you may want to try another game, however if it's only once in a while, I do suggest city of heroes, also for it's not out yet, but Guild Wars is coming out, and that doesn't require a subscription feel. it's made by the guys that used to be Blizzard north and has people on the staff that made Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo II, and founded Battlenet.

Moving to Video Games.

CoH is the casual gamer's MMORPG. If you want something a bit more advanced, try WoW or *shudder* EQ2

no, don't try EQ2. theres nothing wrong with casual gaming, i've been doing it more and more as of late. CoH is more action oriented, and delivers a number of rewards early on in the game. WoW is geared more for a dedicated audience, people willing to grind to lvl 40 just to get a horse for example. however, WoW has the 'rest' feature, which gives a decent boost to people who can't play all that often.

Yes, stay away from EQ and any of its incarnations.

In truth, most new MMOs have been trying to appeal to the "weekend warrior" base. Partly because it gets more people buying their product, and partly because a guy who plays for five hours a month pays the same as the addicts.

CoH is a good game, once you get a travel power. It's got scads of content, and quick updates. The game is mostly fighting and any RPing that you want to do; there's no crafting items and no plans for it in the future. A slated update will include the SSOOCS (Super Secret Out Of Combat System), which no one has details on. Upcoming PvP looks to be a blast. And the whole thing will come together with City of Villains' release. Me? I like the comic book stuff. Whoosh! *flies away*

WoW is a more traditional MMORPG experience, with little of the crap that burdens EQ. You can spend your time fishing or mining, or killing shit. Some say that the WoW mission system is worse than CoH's. Also, PvP in this game is present, but it's kinda off balance, apparently. It's standard fantasy Warcraft fare, as content goes. Though I feel that the Alliance side is heavily biased towards in the game.

If you're genuinly interested in PvP DON'T get City of Heroes. The fact of the matter is that the game was simply not designed with PvP in mind. While it IS however, the most immersive MMORPG to date.

Just you wait. Taunting changes your target. Brawl(!) drops your toggles(!!). Electricity Blasters just went from weak to essential. And don't get me started on Confuse. Those poor Mind Controllers will soon be very successful...

Deathosaurus Wrecks 03-03-2005 10:52 AM

Zwei, you might just see me back in the game come CoV time. i mean, im sure you're level bajillion by now, and my guys are still level stupid.
