US gets the Uncensored RE 4
 

I was just reading my EGM and I was rather suprised. Japan the land where they have animated sex and gore that puts most US rated-R movies to shame is getting the censored Resident Evil 4. While the US is getting the uncut decapitating version.

Am I the only one that finds this odd?

Japan gets the censored version? What the hell? Isn't this the same country that has half their video game outlets devoted to hentai dating sims?

Maybe it's because of some Japanese custom about a certain type of violence in the game.

hmm... that IS odd... maybe they only accept drawn extreme gore. its probably some culture thing, or they dont like graphic images of the living dead...

maybe the japanese govt's devoleped a t virus and dont want there people thinking the fact tha there dead uncle walking down the street is a bad thing.

Or maybe they enjoy watching violence and gore, but don't like pretending to inflict said violence.

I've also heard the american version of DMC3's normal mode is the Japanese' hard mode.

I believe it. Japanese art (at least mass-produced, such as Magic cards) can't have skeletons in the pictures. Japan has heavy censors on violence for social and safety reasons. And hentai DOES have to be censored in Japan. Even so, their regulations on pornographic things is not as strong compared to violence because they have their shit together - they realize a kid going out and killing people because of violent media is worse than a person watching some porn.
