The Dragons are coming!

I've been seeing ads for this so I checked in out.

All I can say is about time!

I saw that too. At first I was really excited, but then I was a little disapointed that they are creating the dragons as just animals. Dragons are not like the animals that they do documentarys on all the time, they are by far older and wiser than any animal and most humans. Yes, it's cool they're making that show, but I don't agree with how they are making it.

*Takes a fly swatter and swats franticly in the air*

"Christ I cant park here, this is Dragon country!"

Gineko: Your entitled to your beliefs on dragons. But the Discovery Channel (and all of the channels that have spawned from it) useally base there documentarys on sciencetiffic fact.

Its just how they roll, they want to make a show about what dragons would be, in the biological sense. Unstead of a documentray about how dragons secertly goveren the U.N. and frequently save orphanes from alien aductions. Which would be cool in its own right.

According to the link, the dragon documentary's showing on Animal Planet, not Discovery Channel. Anyway, I hope I remember to watch this show, it looks really well researched. It reminds me of this one documentery I saw about ninjas that just blew my mind away. I think it was on Discovery Channel, because I don't think ninjas count as animals.

Sithdarth, you are getting some positive rep from me for this. Well posted, my friend.

Animal Planet is a subsidiary of the Discovery Channel, I believe. :P

Anyway, I am greatly looking forward to this, and have been wanting to see something like this for a long time. Go Animal Planet! ^_^

I must now weep, for the gods that decide I do not have cable tell me I shall never see this beautiful thing. :-(

Sandrock 03-07-2005 11:37 AM

Ill miss this I know it will. I hope they do more work...besides who knows how smart they are realy?

Sithdarth 03-07-2005 12:45 PM

For those of you that do not have cable or may miss the showing I have good news. If you have an IM client, either AIM, Yahoo, or MSN, and can accept direct file transfers I may have a solution. Anyone interested can message me after the 20th and I'll see what I can do.

I saw their miniseries on dinosaurs a few years ago. It kept me and my dad glued to the screen for a week. I'm really looking foreward to this, maybe this will signal my dad's return to watching Animal Planet.

I don't know about wiser. The only portrayals of wise dragons I've seen have been in fiction novels and movies. When I think "dragons", I compare them to dinosaurs...dumb and hungry.

Ohhhhh, ouch. That hurts.

Think of true mythology, not just the movies and things people make (I really hope you weren't thinking of Dragon Tales, *shudder*). In mythology (which is what this show is based on) dragons are depicted in a few ways, but in most of what I've read they are beasts of great intelligence that either guide humans to great fortune or help them on some quest or another, or they are evil and cause havoc to the nearest community until someone slays it.
Dragons are not dumb and hungry, that would be my brother.
