The problem with leaving it as it is is some of it just doesn't make sense. Let's drag up the elemental list shall we.

Fire -> Ice - Makes sense, fire melts ice

Ice -> Gravity - Uh... can't see how this one works

Gravity -> Lightning - Or this one

Lightning -> Earth - If you want to go by existing games/RP's the opposite is generally true

Earth -> Wind - This one seems about right, although I'm more inclined to say that they both have an equally hard time hurting each other

Wind -> Water - These two don't really seem right as there isn't really anytihng to suggest why Wind would be especially effective

Water -> Fire - Water quenches fire.

Death -> Life - This one is a little ambgiuous, after all it's an endless cycle and I'm not really sure if they even should be elements

Life -> Poison - Life survives Poison, kinda makes sense.

Poison -> Status - I don't think Status should be an element and I don't see why it's weak against Poison. If anything, Poison's a sub-type of Status

Status -> Illusion - You could argue this should be the other way around, seeing how it's impossible to affect an illusion with it. There is the disproving aspect, but even so...

Illusion -> Holy - Illusion tricks Holy? This one seems a little iffy to me.

Holy -> Death - Holy is only really an element in Final Fantasy. A better thing might be replacing it with Light and adding Shadow/Darkness as it's opposite.

Perhaps it would work better if you cut it down to the more basic elements and then added some 'psuedo' elements - like Poison and Gravity.

Gravity -> Lightning
I explained this in the previous post. As I said, Gravity is wrong name for it.

Quote:

Wind -> Water
Think about it. Of all the elements, which element has the only possible chance of blowing away a wall of water? Lightning can't, Fire can't, Earth can't and neither does Ice.

Quote:

Death -> Life
Well, the thing here is that Death can take Life away easily, while Life CAN'T take death away....

Quote:

Illusion -> Holy
Well, I suppose the illusionist can trick a Holy warrior into thinking it to be yet another Holy warrior.

Quote:

Poison -> Status
Status -> Illusion
Ice -> Gravity

Don't ask me why I made the top choices. I was kinda in a rush when i made the decisions. I think the proper system should be this:

Illusion -> Status - as you said, Status doesn't affect an illusion.

Status -> Physical - Status alters the physical warrior, leaving him helpless against it.

Physical -> Illusion - I'm having a hard time figuring out how this one would work, except for the fact that Illusions can't hurt a real Physical warrior.

(alternative) Or perhaps we could have Ice beat Illusion, and Physical beat gravity instead.....

Well, I can't be bothered to make up a new system. Why don't you make a new elemental system and propose it here? Then we'll see what we can do. As for now, we can only continue as normal.

How about this:

Fire > Ice > Wind > Earth > Lightning > Water > Fire

Fire melts ice.
Ice resists wind (basing off FFXI, but thats not their explanation. FFXI's explanation is good)
Wind tears away earth.
Earth grounds electricity.
Lightning separates and is conducted by water.
Water puts out fire.

Then, for the others.

This would be under a non-elemental affinities:
Poison > Gravity > Illusion > Holy > Status > Poison

Poison > Illusion because illusions would be easily dispersed with ailments.
Illusion > Holy because illusions and temptations can shake one's faith.
Holy > Status because holy purifies and the whatnot.
Status > Poison because poison is a status. Status could merely turn one's poison against him.

Life > Death > Life

Bring life to the death, and you have life.
Bring death to the life, and you have death.

Gravity

Gravity isn't weak or strong to anything.

Physical

Ditto.

Personally, I wonder why we have so many elements. Is it just because we have so many Summons? That's probably the reason. Otherwise, I see no reason why Illusion, Poison, Status, Gravity, Life, and Death are elements.

With my own system, I meld Status ["If it's what I think it is."] and Life and call it Medicina, Poison and Death come together to be called Venoma, and Medicina and Venoma would be opposing elements. Illusion and Gravity, I wouldn't really call elements, and if they were, I'd simply leave them without having elements that are stronger or weaker than them. Not every element has to have something to oppose it in some way.

Anyways, let's stop fighting about the elements before we piss Kildare off. If you want the element system to be done the way you want it, then make your own RP.
