I think a ghostly apparition shaped like Dr. Wily or Sigma collides into them and infects them.

Whoever is the carrier, which is always the Mav leader, downloads it into the Reploid.

And why let the enemy make the Reps then try to infest then, when you can make them yourself and for a sure bet infest them?

Appearance: All gold armour. Thick (x-ish) calf guards, torso armour that's split into slits so it looks like it's grabbing onto him. His helmet is also gold-ish, and has a fin protruding from the front-top. (Helmet based on the elves from Two Towers) His arms are the most noticable feature. Large shields are on each arm, and they're built to resemble the ones that Protoman had, just more complicated looking.
Weapons: Only two weapons. A gaitling gun that needs to be charged before it's fired, and a knife that works aruond the principles of beam sabers. He's not good with the second.
Abilities: Lock is a human shield. The two shields on his arms are EXTREMELY difficult to even scratch, and his normal body armour is actually better than that of most people. Despite this, he's surprisingly light. Is his shields are hit with energy weapons, these go into charging his gaitling gun, which takes a fair while to charge. So, yah. He IS a shield. Can't fight worth crap, but can REALLY take the damage.
Equipment: On his back are some glide wings, and he's got boosters in his feet.
Background: Very very little. Insane scientist wanted to make the ultimate soldier, looked good on paper, wasn't that good in actuality. Tossed in trash. Lock ended up with the resistance mostly by virtue and they insist on putting him out in front. He's oblivious to the concept of human shield, so he doesn't really care that he's almost always the one that ends up in peices. Actually, he ended up being quite naive, and happy that someone thought he was good for something.

Hm... Now it's 6v3...

And his shields aren't unscratchable, just are energy absorbing... If someone goes up and punches your shield a couple of times, it will be dented. BM would crush your sheilds...

And I would think it would be hard to move with two large sheilds stuck to your arms...

Well, I based his shields arond what Protoman did. I.E. Dear god what does it take to destroy those things!?

Their kinda' like mets. Just on his arms. So not just shiny hunks on metal. To counter-balance, he don't really fight.

But you just sitting in a corner with your arms up and being untouchable seems... Wrong...

That's why I gave him the speed. Mostly so he goes in front of someone, gets hit instead, repeat.

He's gonna' be the one Celes has to fix the most just by virtue of his being a human shield. Sheilds are tough, but they don't ablate force. Drop a ten ton rock on him, the shields might not break but he'd still be squished.

So, BM is his bane.

It would be easier to just rip his arms off over smashing him.
