Legend of the Five Rings: Test of Thunder Part 3
 

The boat pulled into a lake off to the side of the river and landed in a sandy shore. There was a small grassy strip of land flanked by cliffs. A fallen oak would provide ample fire wood for a fire.

Thank kami-sama for dry land...

Benitora stepped unsteadily onto shore as Shizune bounded off the boat with her limitless energy.

Tsubasa was the next to leave the ship, still feeling really guilty about not helping with the battle. "I shall go and gather us some firewood." With that, she got to work, finding sizeable and dry tree branches that would burn well.

The storm had converted back to a cold drizzle. The snow covered mountains fenced them in.

Shizune came running back to Benitora after a brief stint of running around. As always, her near-limitless energy confounded him.

"Dad, I found a really neat cave! It's big, and it's not too dusty, and..."

Benitora was about to smack her for possibly wandering into the lair of some wild animal, but thought better of it. After all, she wasn't hurt, and she did seem quite happy.

"Shizune, where is this cave, again?"

"I'll show you! Come one!"

Benitora followed her, and soon they came to it. It was quite big andthe ground was relatively clear. A brief search indicated that it was empty. Benitora returned to the group, daughter in tow.

"My daughter has discovered a cave. I have been to it and it looks empty and safe. Would you like to move in there? It conserves the heat from the flame and is generally more defensible."

"I'd much like to be warm again." Tenshi said. He had huddled himself in his kimono. He followed Benitora to the cave.

Samoht had just finished dragging his boat up onto the shore and out of the water. He sure as hell wasn't going to leave it in the water again to be frozen in. He took the fabric that they had used as a sail and covered the top of the boat. Now they wouldn't have to dig out the snow. He followed the others to the cave, and sat down, rubbing his stomach.

"That Natto didn't do much today, seeing as how it was only in my stomach for 15 minutes. Anyone got anything to eat?"

"I have four month old smoked and salted salmon and plenty of rice." Tenshi said. He examined the salmon and decided if Samoht wanted to risk it he wasn't going to stop him.

Samoht picked a piece up, sniffed it, and shrugged.

"Food is food."

He took a bite and chewed slowly.

"Mmm. Vintage meat."

ooc: for dinner we have salted fish, and rice. A small fire is going. We are covered. the cave floor is sand. And I propose a story contest. The person who tells the best story, sings the best song, or recites the best poem (haiku) wins a skill point depending on what they did.
