Forsaken Lands
I am issuing a call for assistance.
Forsaken Lands is a MUD game, possibly the best MUD game out there. I want to draw people into it so I can form a clan and take over the home city of Rheydin. People in it have just gotten too damn cocky and I want to take the city back from the evil. Of course this will take some time because you all have to level up to at least lvl. 35 before we even attempt it. Download GMUD and try the game out. It's pretty entertaining, even if you don't want to help me with my manifest destiny. The game is pretty much quest based, but all areas are open from the beginning and the class and race structure is excellent. To find out more about this game go to www.forsakenlands.org Use the in-game "help" command or newbie talk feature if you hit a snag or are just confused. Another little problem is that I can't just go and make the clan. We have to show a good team effort and work well together without questioning the "immortals" too much. They have to see our clan is self-reliable and can work on its own. I am an elf thief named Guram (sound familiar?) in the game so we can either work to get as many different races and classes in our clan as possible or we can make ourselves strictly a thief clan. I wouldn't like that though because one of my friends and I are the leaders and he is a necromancer. Remember to stay in character in the game and sheathe your weapon whenever in a city. (The immortals are pretty damn strict when it comes to this). If you die you lose all of your stuff exactly where you died. You become a ghost for about a minute after you die so you can retrieve your stuff without having to fight anyone. If you can't make it back to where you died, or can't remeber how to get there, your stuff will magically appear in one of the pits in one of the temples in Rheydin after 15 minutes. It always appears in the temple that you are aligned with. Also, use the QUIT command to exit the game. DO NOT just close the window or you remain where you are and can be attacked for 15 minutes. You can't player kill until level 10, not that I'd recommend it cause you will be destroyed. Use the CON command to consider enemies before attacking them so you know if you can handle them. If and when you join the game, post your in-game name, class, and alignment here so I know who to look for. When everyone is in I will schedule a meeting place to form our clan here. We can also discuss strategy and clan topics here. When it asks you if you want to be evil or good, choose whatever you want, I would just like an equal amount of good and bad so the good can group with me and hunt for equal experience and the evil can group with my friend (Kuyash, drow necromancer). If you ever need any help in the game ask either me or Kuyash or another player in the game before asking an immortal. Not that I know everything yet. Thanks |

At your service, Lord. |
For the record:
Two non-messageboard players have joined the cause. Silen and Rolf. Rolf is another thief like me and Silen I'm not so sure of. He can cast magic so that's a plus. |
um...so if we want to play we have to sign on with this game on another web site? am i right? if i am how do i do that pleas ^.^

There's two ways to sign on to the game:
1.) Go to www.forsakenlands.org, click "Connect", and choose to connect through the Telnet program or through a Java client. I heavily recommend Java over Telnet because Java supports colored text and in Telnet you can't see what you're typing. But, I think option two is the best way to go... 2.)Download the program GMUD and click the connect button in the upper left corner. It will bring up a new menu. In the text field next to the words "Host Name" type 204.209.44.11 and in the field next to the word "Port" type 6666. Then click the connect button at the bottom of the menu. When the opening screen pops up and it asks for your name, type what you want your in-game name to be. Make sure it's original or the immortals will make you change it. If you can't think of a good name, the site has a name generator. |
alright...my comp is kind of funny about downloading stuff but i will try
count me in until other wise noticed |

In another matter: We have acquired another member, Hideko. He was recently killed and one of our objectives now is to seek out his murderer and take back his stuff. Her name is Kly. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST LEVEL 30 BEFORE EVEN CONSIDERING CONFRONTING HIM! *Consider her armed and extremely dangerous* |
Greetings from the Staff
Hello, for those that don't know me, I am Kalug, a member of the staff of Forsaken Lands (an 'Immortal' in MUD terms). One of the other 'Imms' found this while browsing, so I thought I would pop in and give a few words of advice, as well as clarify a few things.
First, I like what I have read for the most part. Forming a clan is no easy thing, especially one comprised of mostly folks new to the game. I encourage you to continue doing so, as what you are planning will add an interesting deminsion to the game. I am not here to attempt in any way to stop you in your endevours, I will however remind you of a few things: 1. OOC knowledge. It is forbidden in the rules of the game to use Out Of Character (OOC) knowledge while in the game itself. While that is quite hard, especially for those well versed in the game, what it boils down to is 'Would my character know what I am allowing it to simply because he is who he is?'. An example is this: In you posting here you mentioned that someone had attacked and killed a member of this 'Clan', and to attempt to seek and destroy this person for that act. That is a no-no. Using this board to enlist and coordinate is fine, but make sure to use in-game notes (add Immortal in the 'To' line if you want us to monitor and participate, as it takes Imm approval for clans to be active) to let your members know of activities, enemies, news, and such. This does a couple things for you. It allows us as Imms to monitor your activities, and the more active and organized a clan is the more likely they will achieve true 'Clan' status and it keeps you from using OOC means to coordinate and thus violating the rules of gameplay. 2. Ganging. While attacking a person with 2 to 1 odds or greater is not considered illegal it is frowned upon. There will be times in your existance in FL where it will be needed to be done, that is understood, but to actively hunt in groups time and time again can and will be punished. Now, I am not accusing or insinuating that this is taking place, I am simply notifying all out there of how things work. We do however encourage you to form groups for the purpose of attacking other groups of equal numbers, as those tend to be quite fun. Now, for you new people, we have an extensive system of help files, I suggest you use them, as they can teach you quite a bit. Also GMUD and Telnet are not the only clients out there to use, ZMUD and Wintin are very good clients as well. I hope you all come in to the game understanding that it is RP ENFORCED as mentioned before, so leave who you are behind when you log in and enjoy our little realm of fantasy. A couple words of advice before I sign out: 1. Do not use profanity. 2. Do not use emotes or socials to abuse other player. (help emote, help social) 3. Use the newbie school and the newbie academy to help you learn the game. 4. Know the rules, play by the rules. I hope to see you all on the other side. Kalug |
