I went to watch some tv yesterday because I was bored and the first thing that I saw was a special report on the Red Lake shooting. I tried getting as accurate information as I could, but everyone was contradicting each other. I heard "2 dead" here and "8 dead" there, "there were two shooters" no "there was one shooter". This article finally cleared it up.

This kid was clearly unstable. He was logging on to Nazi websites, and in addition to that:
That's almost a too perfect setup for a shooting, as sad as it is to say. Depending on how senile his grandparents were (who were probably watching after him) I'm not going to hold them accountable for their grandkid's actions. That guy was just lost from the start. I would have felt sorry for him had he not committed nine counts of murder.

So a Hitler admirer who wants "racial purity" posts on a neo-Nazi forum that accepts all races (a huge paradox if I ever heard one) because he's afraid of the Aryan people in the White Power sites.
My point in all this is that this guy is clearly confused. Not to mention fucked up in the head. No doubt this kid planned his killing spree thinking that he's furthering some cause. The fact of the matter is though, he was kidding himself; this was about killing people, plain and simple. Suffice to say, had he lived through this, I don't think our legal system has any punishment to match what he did. I sincerely hope this bastard's burning.

I agree on the paradox part, casue yea, that is sort of weird. I mean, he could of posted for hteir open mindedness, but still jsut seems sort of unlikely...

Calling him a moron seems a bit premature. Apparently he seemed like a well informed intelligent person, and insulting him simply because he praised Hitler may be uncalled for. I agree that Hitler was a horrible person, and his acts were atrocious to say the least, but I'd still like to not balme or insult someone just for their personal beliefs. Please don't insult me for that...lol

But yes, he was seriosuly fucked up in the head, whats even more fucked up is that in his school he has to go through a damn metal detector... says sometyhing about his community. And strangely enough, there are a surprising amount of people who think Hitler was right, even though it means that tehy themselves would ahve been killed...

His grandfather was a local police officer -- this article says that's how he got the guns.

There was an earlier school shooting in Minnesota two years ago -- it wouldn't be surprising to find out that the metal detectors were installed not too long after that. The problem is that no amount of band-aid measures like security guards and closed-circuit cameras are ever going to stop things like this, as long as the real problems that cause them aren't dealt with. Another article mentions he'd gotten in trouble before for making threats at school, but other than putting him in some kind of enforced homeschooling program, did the school do much of anything about him?

Edit: boy, I hope Jack Armstrong's got his ambulance chasing shoes on. The very first article about this I read, I thought to myself: oh, okay, so he was some dumbass neo-Nazi -- at least they can't drag out the video game angle this time. Within less than a minute, the next article just about fell over itself to mention that YES THE SUSPECT WAS RUMORED TO ENJOY THE NOTORIOUS PSYCHO-STIMULANT "TELEVIDEO GAMES" THAT ALL MURDERERS THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO CRAVE. For all we know the Dreamcast was fresh off the assembly line the last time this little cretin touched a console, but it doesn't matter, does it?

What an idiot, how can a Native American be a white supremecist(sp?)? VVR was right; he just wanted to kill people. Oh on a side note why do all of these idiots commit suicide afterwards, are they too gutless to stand up for their actions? If they feel the rest of the school deserves to die you would think they wouldn't fear retaliation. I said this in the GTA thread but I just have to say it again:
