Where's Bob & George?

When I try to visit B&G I get a page that is very much not Bob & George. I suspect that B&G didn't renew its domain name promptly enough, and it was taken from them.

But I'd like to be sure. So if anyone finds out what happened, could you post it here? Maybe with linakage?

Update:
- Well, it looks like http://www.steelangel.com has gotten the rights to www.bobandgeorge.com , but given its links I'm hoping they just purchased BobandGeorge.com in order to give it to Dave once he notices the problem.

Sky Warrior Bob 03-24-2005 05:50 AM

I don't think that can be it, as the actual domain name www.bobandgeorge.com doesn't take you to anything Bob & George like. And the link you just gave doesn't work at all.

You might be right, but have you even tried visiting Bob & George lately?

yeah, it's like it never existed. very wierd. just a blank make-your-own webpage thing titled Bobandgeorge. I'm kinda worried.

Does anyone know the guy's email?

I just pulled up the WHOIS info on the domain bobandgeorge.com in a terminal (I < 3 Linux), and it is indeed still registered to David Anez. Not only that, it doesn't expire until the 17th of January, 2007.

So, the problem being experienced is most likely a DNS lag, as the page was moved to a new server. It should correct itself within a day or two.

EDIT: Upon pulling up info on SteelAngel.com, that appears to be hosted on Myrmid as well. So, the DNS lag seems to be the case.

Its ironic how Myrmid actions screw B&G over just after Dave said so many nice things about them. That'll learn 'em!

Found this in the blurb:

In fact, a number of people have been complaining about this server problem. Near as I can tell, the DNS is acting up, so some people are getting to the site, some aren't. Sometimes it depends on whether you type "www" at the beginning of the URL. Either way, I think if you use the IP address instead (http://64.159.77.53) you should be just fine until this blows over.

Also, in an effort to save some bandwidth, I'll be switching the main archives from mostly gif images to png images. I figure I can cut down significantly with that change, and I think most readers are now using browsers that can handle it.

I just pray they get this thing fixed, since this week alone, VG Cats and 8-bit were down too for two days or so. I went berserk for that time... but nobody needed to know that...

Lesson: You never realize what you have until you lose it.
