DBZ Sagas
I must say I'm kinda impressed. Somehow the managed to include a better battle system than any of the fighters I've played, and I've played most of them. There's not much to do but run around collecting things and fighting but that's fun enough.
The fighting system makes you feel like you can actually do everything they do in the series. As you progress you learn to charge ki attack then to teleport. I discovered you can teleport and catch your opponent of guard and send them flying. Then charge ki attack and teleport to them once again before you fire that. Then repeat the charged Ki attack 3-4 more times before they can recover. You can also learn to throw and guard break and a whole host of other nonbasic attacks. Most of them are one or two button combo's. Anyone else play this yet and what opions do you have? I'm kinda interested in seeing if there is enough interest to by this now or wait for the mass returns and used copies in a week. |
I'm sorry, but....I disagree, I think it's absolutely horrible, 4/10, it seems like it's held together by strings, the physic engine lacks, the controls are illresponsive. I didn't like it at all, I mean, it's superman 64 which got .5/10 for turning on, but it's no good

I guess it depends on what you where looking for in the game. I rented the thing expecting to simply be able to fight some of the key battles in the saga. It had pretty much no story or really anything but fighting but thats what it did very well. The physics of DBZ were never very good to begin with and this is the first game that stayed true to the series with the fighting engine.
Also the fights get really hard towards the end. If you're looking for another FF advanture your not going to find it. But it was quite fun just smacking people around for a few hours. Plus when you beat it you can go back to any of the missions and play with any character. They even threw in Brolly as a bonus. So you get lots of fighting value from one game. So it doesn't stay totally true to reality. You're shooting energy balls out of your hands and teleporting around reality went out the window a long time ago. |
I have to agree with Lucerin Red on this one.
DBZ Sagas was sad. I beat it on hard mode in one sitting. I was glad I played it but it wasn't hardly worth a purchase (which is usually what game makers go for) I rented it for free (work at Blockbuster and all). I sat down, had a little fun, but it really feels like the game was held together by strings. I'll give you an example of why it was bad; the fighting engine itself is just Dragon Ball Z: The Every Other Game engine. Punch Kick Ki and jump (block in some cases) You run from point A to point B, collecting something related to the show and use them to level up, unlock extras, or buy powerups. Go from one important fight to the next for no reason, fighting bad guy after bad guy in a lousy attempt at a single- or double-player mode. And when you beat it...you get.... A great sense of pride and self-acheivement! Tah dah! Oh, and you can also pick different characters and different clothings to beat the game with again (which doesn't matter as all of the upgrades affect everyone) It feels like a game rushed to fall in sync with the movie, which is funny because the new Dragon BAll Z Broli movie just came out, and for no reason whatsoever Broli is thrown in there. I think I may have found out why it's so bland. |
Yeah, it was more or less crap, just like every other DBZ game I've tried. Except for ONE, does anyone remember it? I played it for SNES on an emulator, you'd use cards to fight, and you went through the DBZ series from the beginning of the show until Freiza. It was pretty cool, it was an RPG though, not a fighting game.
One other thing...when you beat the game, you get...a sense of pride and self-achievement? Hello? That's all you ever get from ever beating any game ever created! When I beat some of the best games of my life, I beat them, tah-dah! Nobody comes to my house and gives me food, or money, or congratulates me. The entire statement is completely redundant, and it bugged me so much that I had to write an entire paragraph picking it apart! |
well not all DBZ games are bad, DBZ budokai 3 is actually a pretty good fighter,
and yeah, that card game, but ewww, it's a card battler |

it's not that I think all games should have more, I'm just thinking a game this SHORT would have something other than just "Congrats! Now play with dfiferent skins!" And where the hell did Broly come from!? PS; yes, the card battler was cool, and DBZ Budokai 3 is actually a fun fighter. |
Not to be off-topic, but...

Bah. I'm, just going to rent the game... the worst that could happen would be it being worse than Legacy of Goku. |
Well my problem with Brolly being in Sagas is that it goes up to the Cell storyline, and doesn't include him in any way. Then, you can BECOME BROLLY, AND HE IS JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
Yeah, I didn't like it. A rental is hardly what it's worth. I've seen more fun in the Lord of the Rings games. It lasted longer too, because it was hard. |
If you've ever even seen the show, then you know that the SHOW doesn't even stick with it's own storyline. The movies all take place in apparently paralell universes, at times and with people that are completely impossible, if you watch the series. I mean... when were Goku and Vegeta free to fight Cooler in "One Million Power Warriors"? When the HELL did they go to the "already blown up" planet Vegeta to fight Brolly? Bardock's Saga was the only one that fit, because it was a prequel, they could do whatever they wanted (although it DID change the time Vegeta was destroyed).
I only play the silly RPG's on my emulator, when it comes to the games. Run run, punch punch, run run, punch punch... it was pointless, but captivating. I had one of the fighting games on my emulator, and I swear to god, I made a better fighting game using LogoWriter in Grade 6. "HyperDimension" or something... you know, the game where Kid Buu and Videl are the SAME POWER LEVEL? Oi.... For some reason, though, Spike TV is advertising the BRAND NEW MOVIE, "Brolly's Revenge" on VHS and DVD. Uhm... new movie? New, decade-old movie? Does anyone understand this? |
