Video Games on the Walk of Fame?

You heard right. Some guys are petitioning it. http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/walkoffame

I'll sign as long as they aren't swayed by nintendo fanboys to put Ninty-only characters and games on it.

This is actually a Nintendo endorced movement. And frankly...although I think Nintendo does good things most the time and don't normally find their actions dumb or strange...I gotta say this one is reather...yeah.

I mean, sure, Anime and games should be recognized more by Hollywood and LA...but the 'Path of the Stars' is something that's been around only for Hollywood people for the better part of 80 years. There's just some things that should only be for live actors. Its kinda like Hollywood petitioning that American movies should be Previewed at E3...a Video Game only event.

I gotta agree. These are characters in a fictional universe. They have no talent to recognize, even if they are really cool. I'll honor them the way they should be, by playing the games they are in.

While video game characters are cool and all, I think the walk of fame should be reserved for Hollywood actors. After all, they are just characters. It'd be like putting Forrest Gump on the Walk of Fame. The Walk is supposed to honor actors for their achievements, not the characters they play.

Well instead of shutting the idea down completely, let’s extend it a bit. Instead of the characters, that I know the petition is only including, how about the creators of said characters. Like how Matt Groening received a star for creating characters, of a different nature I know. That's something that is understandable and is still in the lines of where this petition is going.

I was going to suggest that, and then I realized: Video Games have nothing to do with hollywood. Or at least very little (that I'm aware of. Feel free to enlighten me if I've missed something). I'd like to keep it that way.

Leave the stars to Movies and TV. Find some other way to recognize the people that create fabulous games.

EDIT: I just realized this sounds alot like what Ken already said.... Oh well.

In the 80's or 90's (I'm not too sure when it came out) there was a Mario show, it had some Zelda in it too.

Well, there are characters on the Walk of Fame. From Garfields pw to C-3PO, R2D2 and Darth Vader. None of these are actors and one IS a Cartoon/Comic character.

But the thing is....These Video Game characters aren't connected to Hollywood. And some are made in American and all...but aside from like....characters based on movies, none of them are made by hollywood...the place the walk of fame is made by.

Well, my regard for Hollywood has dropped into the negative region...

Yeah, I think the Walk of Fame (that should be capitalized, right?) is for actual people. Maybe we should compromize, and make a Video Game Walk of Fame in front of Nintendo's office building.
