Knights of the Realm (sign-up)

A Medieval RP. Huzzah! (For anyone that's gone to see 'Medieval Times', this is what inspired me.)

The story.

The place is in a world called Samrun. It’s set in a time of knights and swords. One king, Roland the VII, rules the entire world of Samrun, which is divided up into different providences. There’s no advanced technology, and the only explosives to be found are from the receiving end of a mage’s staff. The blade is the rule, and only those with the strongest steel or magic may join the King’s personal army.

Although the RP takes place in a “present” time, the story truly starts a year before.

A year before the RP starts, the barbarians of the farthest northern providence, Englasia, had begun a campaign of mass conquering and pillaging. Any land they didn’t deem necessary for their military purposes, they burned to the ground. They were without mercy, whether it is knights that stood in their way, or women and children. They left nothing but death and destruction in their wake.

Large masses of people fled from the barbaric attacks of the northern Englasians, and gathered in the royal providence of Tilan, the home providence of King Roland the VII. The war continued, until the only free providence left was Tilan. With the hordes of Englasians surrounding them, King Roland attempted a last ditch effort to protect the land. He gathered any willing knight to join him in a final battle. He gathered together a nice-sized army, and with them, he set out to war.

Both armies met on the outskirts of Tilan, with the capital city of Incrad in plain view several miles away. The army closest to the city contained King Roland the VII’s army of gathered knights from many providences. On the other side, the barbaric Englasians sat stewing in their bloodlust, their axes and broadswords still stained with blood. At the crack of dawn, with the few beams of sun glaring over the distant mountains, the battle began.

The Englasians were trained and experienced bringers of death. King Roland’s army, however, had many inexperienced fighters, and even the ones with several years under their belts had never fought alongside most of the other knights, and as such were not able to read the signs that are necessary to survive in a massive battle. So, by noon, the entire army of King Roland’s had been decimated. All, except for a small group. This group of knights was well-trained, filled with natural talent and much skill, though they did not come from the same providences. This group, along with King Roland the VII, gathered together near the boundaries of the providence. At that spot, they each gave a solemn oath to protect the boundary, and to not let any Englasian pass. There, at high noon, with the sun at its highest point in the sky, this small group gave a last stand.

As the Englasians threw wave after wave of barbarians at the group, every interloper that dared get within striking distance of the brave group fell beneath their might and determination. For hours they stood there, fighting with all the strength and power they could muster. Finally, when the sun set below the mountains, and they were enveloped in darkness, the only ones left alive was the small group, with large mounds of corpses lying around them. Any surviving Englasians retreated to their original providence far up north.

For their bravery, King Roland the VII gave the knights special amulets. The amulets represented that they were members of the “Knights of the Realm”. Seeing as how the Englasians had taken over every providence but Tilan, King Roland decreed that the Knights of the Realm would divide up the land into new providences, and each knight would be the guardian of their own providence. So, the knights divided the land, and they each went their separate ways, keeping only the memory of the battle and their new amulets as proof that what had occurred had really happened. And even though they never saw each other again for an entire year, the knights remained friends in their hearts. After all, miraculous battles make steadfast friends.

Now, it’s a year later. The knights each guard their providence in their own ways, and King Roland the VII still rules over the entire land of Samrun. However, on the anniversary of the great battle, each of the Knights of the Realm’s homes had been broken into, and each Knight had killed a would-be assassin. After searching the body, each knight found a death contract signed by King Roland the VII himself! The man they had helped defend the world had hired assassins to kill them. That would not stand.

So, the knights gathered in a secret place, to discuss what should be done.

All right, here’s the format for your sign-up. Now, something to keep in mind is that the term “Knight” simply means a skilled warrior in this RP. Hence, you don’t HAVE to be a sword-wielding, chivalry-using, white horse-riding warrior. You could be a fire-flinging Mage, an agile Thief, a holy Paladin, a keen eyed Archer, a cold blooded Sword-for-Hire, etc. If you want, you can even be a generic knight. That’s what your Class would be.

Name: (Obvious)
Knight Name: (What is your Official Title)
Class: (What kind of knight are you?)
Providence: (The Providence that you’re the guardian of. You get to make up the name.)
Description of Providence: (Are they a vast group of holy people that live in grand churches, or a bunch of drunks that drudge through their lives in rubble)
Appearance: (What you look like, including armor)
Weapons: (What the weapons you carry around are. If you’re a magic user, the kind of magics you use.)
Items: (Anything you carry that isn’t weapons. Includes any animals you might have. Hey, it wasn’t uncommon for knights to have a pet hawk or a dog.)
Personality: (How your character acts)

Name: Adellah
Knight Name: Adellah the Abomination (so named because of how much she decorated herself in the enemy's blood and how much she savored the endless killing)
Class: Berserker Knight
Providence: Kilndrihelm
Description of Providence: A scattering of villages, major and minor, with relatively sized defenses. Village houses are mostly constructed of wood, but most of the minor villages have stone houses. The large encampment where Adellah's throne sits is not much different. It simply has more fortifications and defenses. The terrain itself is mostly plentiful forests, grassy plains, and mountains rich in various natural resources (mostly coal) and minerals (mostly iron and gold). The people are industrious, and employ ease of movement and smaller weapons in combat in contrast to heavy steel. Siege weaponry is currently in construction, but its use has not been implied yet. Farming, trading, fishing, and hunting are pretty much what everyone does in this province.
Appearance:
Gender: Female
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 140 lbs
Hair Color: Trampled Mud Brown
Eye Color: Fresh Leaf Green
Identifying Marks: Various white markings expertly drawn all over her body, which makes her look like some sort of tribal warlord.
Skin Tone: Healthy Tan
Clothing: Well worn but still fully functional cloth, with plated leather and fur trim, knee high boots, and ornamental feathers attached to her hair.
Weapons: Giant's Axe (Not really an axe a giant would use, but a huge axe nonetheless.)
Slaughterang (A boomerang designed for hunting with a razor sharp edge.)
Combat Edge (A large knife made for extensive fighting, designated as Adellah's weapon to fall back on when her axe and boomerang are out of reach.)
Items: Maiden's Feather (A special feature that serves as a coming-of-age gift, presented to her by her father.)
Hunting Spear (Her late younger brother's hunting spear, which she doesn't use in battle and maintains to peek performance.)
Personality: Adellah is obviously an emotionally strong woman, who doesn't express her loyalty through gold or honor, but simply through trust. She finds it very difficult to believe that Roland the VII attempted to have her assassinated, but given her intelligence, she won't bring herself to dismiss the idea until she knows for sure. She is always kind towards her friends and those in need, and doesn't waste words. In combat, she doesn't wish to be seen as just a woman, but rather as a dependable comrade in arms and treated as such.

Whoa, this is cool. If you know how the Ultima Magic System works, we could use it.

Name: Kel Lein
Knight Name: Knight of Customs (For some reason, he manages to figure the customs of other tribes from seeing a few things they do.)
Class: Light Swordsman
Providence: Reyvelin
Description of Providence: Sort of a castle-hood, there are plenty of castles in there; in fact, you could say there are only castles, and no houses. The people in there are quite the engineers for the time; most of them have figured out how to make relatively difficult technology (of course, 'difficult' is an overestimation; it's just some very easy form of clockwork. Pretty big too.)
Appearance:
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 3" (Don't know how high that is)
Weight: 100 lbs
Hair Color: Emerald Greeny
Eye Color: Deep Blue
Identifying Marks: Twenty small pieces of machinery, all broken and scattered over the armor. He thinks they're lucky.
Skin Tone: Pale-ish white.
Clothing: A tunic under a set of armor. This armor is made specially to cover his chest, but it leaves little defense for the back and stomach.
Weapons: Twin Viper (Pair of swords, very sharp and pointy)
Spartan (A shield, sturdy and stupid-named)
Items: Mechanical Device (Some strange mechanical thingy he has no idea what for.)
Personality: Laid back, calm, usually thinking to himself. He also has a strange sense of humor.

Okay, reserving a place here.

Probably going semi-paladin-ish.

Think Prince of Persia meets a Bishop.

Name: Niall Sincair
Knight Name: Envoy of Nature

Its inhabitants themselves liv in great houses of trees, weeds, and even flowers (mattering on how you grew it.). The land itself is a living breathing defense system and the chemicly grown houses are immune to flames. Items: Treance Forte (his wolf)
Alchameic Tools (he carries them wherever he goes.
The Final Truce ( a shrunken hand belonging to his brother who was sacrificed in order to save thier lands from the giants of the north.)
Personality: An extremly odd guy he seems nothing like his people are. He is unnaturaly social with a habit of throwing potions on the ground that can create harmless flames and giving alchohol to raandom strangers. He is not a tree hugger unlike the rest of his race but only because he knows how to grow trees of great hight even on stone. He screams out all the things he enjoys and doesn't care if anyone looks. On the battle field though he is extremely serious and works himself to extinction to keep all his allies alive and well and his enemys the oppisite. He isn't easy to anger but when he does it is wise not to try him.

We were actually thinking more along the lines of a 'bone-mancer'. He can manipulate bones in the dead. Stuff like that.
