NO EXPLOITATION OF GLITCHES. If you don't know what that means then you probably wouldn't know how to exploit a glitch, anyway. If you do it, you're disqualified. This means anything that will indefinitely stall a match, make it un-endable, or freezes your opponent.

I'm gonna try and see what can be done about getting food or snacks to the site. They might cost something, they might not, they might be non-existant. We'll see. I'll keep ya posted.

THIS IS GONNA BE SO MUCH FUN people you hvae to come this is like my dream come true and heck even if you suck you'll still beat the people from pearland cuz GUARANTEED they suck worse. hahah.. no offense to pearland people. If we get 32 people that's a $320 pot so that's ~$224 to first place huh pretty penny so come and maybe you'll win! It'll be fun guaranteed it's worth goin' out of town for.

BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER

Anyone who can bring a TV, a Gamecube w/ copy of smash and memory card would be MOST appreciated. Not quite sure yet if that will be necessary but volunteers are always welcome.

I've never run a tournament before but hopefully the turnout for this one will be decent, and hopefully it will run smoothly. I'm hoping to start having these monthly to help stimulate the smash community in Pearland and Houston. If i missed anything detail wise in this post someone please point it out and i'll edit it.

See you there. Stay tuned for more updates.

In Houston you say exellent. I should be there assuming its not on the other side of the city or something. Why no Hyrule Temple?

fluffy-sama 04-06-2005 05:12 PM

No hyrule temple because it's way too huge and if you're a fast character like Fox or Captain Falcon, you can run away for like the whole match.

I'll think about unbanning it so it can be picked outside of Random, but both parties have to agree to it... tihs is not official yet... i'm pondering. XD

also check out the thread on www.smashboards.com for ...the same info. lol.

I been to smashboards when they was on Starmen.net site month thing and when they had a site...I sort of miss Hojo...

Why not just use the one where you face Bowser/Master Hand [if its GC] Its like the DBZ place but...left to right....it might be too small but its a good idea ya know? That way it shows the pure power of people ya know? Just a though...Im way in Ohio so no go with me.

You're talking about Final Destination. FD is probably one of the most balanced (and/or often used) levels in smash... Unless of course you're facing Falco, where his Short Hop Laser can cause trouble for.. um... everyone... uh, cuz falco is cheap. lol. <3 falco

FD is definitely on Random... a lot of people choose it. Wish you could come to the tournament.

Veritas - BE SURE to register!!! That way i can get the bracket going faster and you can have your own special nametag, to boot! ^.^

Kikuichimonji 04-06-2005 06:51 PM

Where is this happening?

and btw, Final Destination is not 'balanced.' With a fighting style such as the one I use with Link, who needs at least a little vertical change in order to fight well, it's just not fair against Fox or Gannondorf. And why's Big Blue banned? It might require you to multitask, but that's part of the fun.

Lucerin Red 04-06-2005 07:07 PM

Hyrule temple is my favorite stage, no way on earth I'd play in a tourney without it, and so what if you can run away, it's part of the strategy. Oh well, not going to houston anytime soon anyways

Sandrock 04-06-2005 07:13 PM

big blue...thats the F zero race? slow guys like DK and Bowser cant save them selfs if they happen to land on the road as the game speeds by while people like Captan Falco can quickly jump and save him self. The Pokemon Balloon stage would work for moveing stages maybe...

Final Destination Is more....equal. No + and - to any fighters...pure simle bash them all Melee. Hyrule should be used I must say...its a map...but I say useing one or a coin filp for people to choice and best 2 out of 3 with less stock be best...and more TV's...what ever is up to you.

Kikuichimonji 04-06-2005 08:01 PM

Any character, no matter how slow he/she is, can survive on Big Blue. Bowser and co. jump as soon as you hit the button - while they may be slower, DK and Bowser are actually BETTER at staying alive at Big Blue because they can go in horizontally. Character speed does not affect ability to recover - Captain Falco sucks at recovery. You should not ever hit the road. It's just like there was a pit there (okay, you can't grab on ledges, but that is a small point because the platforms are multi-leveled). And Link, a slow character, can jump up from the road and survive. Fairly certain all characters can if they're far enough right.

On the pokemon baloons stage, you can get screwed over easily. If you get unlucky and get stuck in the Sudowoodo, you die. All a character has to do is make sure you don't jump out for like 2 seconds, if you happen to spawn at the wrong time.

For pure competetion I have to argue against all of the moving levels. It reduces the game to luck to much. Personally I also dont like any of the really small stages such as Fountain of Dreams. Those stages are way to narrow and reduce the game from skill to just button mashing.
