Some of Shaman King's (and other's) funniest moments. *SPOILERS!*

This area is full of spoilers and you will be heavily spoiled because of them. Therefore, if you do not like spoiling, do not enter this place, otherwise you'll be spoiled.

There. I spoiled you enough, now can we please go on and keep spoiling it?

Thanks.

Okay, here are some Shaman King moments that made me fall down on the ground laughing. Note that I use the correct dub, so you might not understand them. I'm doing them mostly from memory, so it might be a bit corrupted. Oh well.

*Chocolove's jokes;
*In the onsen episode...
Enla Enla (disguised as Anna): "What? I'm your fiancée! Aren't you gonna hug me, or kiss me, or do any of those things?"
Yoh: "Uh, sorry, Anna, but I'm really scared of you."
(After Amidamaru scares them away)
Yoh (Breaking out in anime tears): "I'm so happy..."
Amidamaru: "But why, master Yoh?"
Yoh: "Because... this is the first time I get the upper hand from Anna."
Amidamaru: "Oh, yes. Indeed." (Then BOTH of them start crying.)
*In 'Angel in Flames'...
Mari (Girl who has a disturbed Super Deformed Manta doll): "Those people are boring... I'm gonna kill all of them."
Yoh (breaking out her Oversoul): "There are no boring people!"
Mari: "Yes, there are!"
Yoh (suddenly grins): "Heh, you're very funny!"
Mari (stunned): "..."

Any other from any anime? Bring in!

The episode of Roroni Kenshin with the monk guys who used "magic" by snagging people in strings. At the end, when Yahiko is trying to return Kenshin's sword, the guy with the broken hands tries to stop him. Yahiko kicks him in the nuts. An interesting montage ensues. The guy falls down squirming, and everyone's proud of Yahiko. For kicking someone in the nuts!

Hey, no comedy list is complete without one blow to the groin.

Heh. Somehow, I can't stop but noticing both your comment and your sig are very funny.
...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Heh, I think I saw that episode. Which season was it? What happened then?

Red Mage Black 04-08-2005 09:35 PM

God...I need to watch those again...I've been missing out on them.

I'm fairly sure that it's from the first season. I know it's before they leave Tokyo. I know I misspelled "Rurouni." I still can't remember the monks' or the big swordsman's names. What I described was the climax of the episode. Kenshin got his sword, cut off the strings, and whuped the two jerks. They then scolded Yahiko for putting them all at risk, Kenshin said it was ok, someone made a comment that Kaouru didn't like, standard still-frame running away ending. I'm glad you like my signature. Now I have to justify this post with some ontopic stuff..

Another sequence that I'm quite fond of is in the fourth episode of Magical Shopping-Arcade Abenobashi. Sashi is training with a Panda through various methods, like fighting dummies, holding statues at arms' lenght with knives taped to his armpits, and eating rice with chopsticks with springs holding him back. As he fails each trial, the panda smacks the snot out of him. Sashi eventually smacks the snot out of the panda, then appears outside in a Fist of the North Star-like artstlye. Then MuneMune shows up and his head explodes in a burst of steam, reverting him to his normal shape and artstyle. Describing the sequence does it no justice, but those of you who have seen it know of its perfect timing and awesome visual gags.

Another gag from MSA that I enjoyed was in the ninth episode, where Sashi learns geomancy and makes an amusement-park world for Arume, but loses a shikigami, which turns into an undefeatable teddybear. During the fight, Sashi makes a shikigami to help Arume, which leads to a Sailor Moon-esque transformation. Arume asks the shikigami, "Where'd you find this getup?" to which the shikigami replies, "We found it at a thrift shop, but that's not imortant!" Something about the speed with which the shikigami adds, "but that's not important," cracks me up.

Hmm... both of those were funny because of timing, but I couldn't preserve the timing in my posts. How about this one from earlier in the ninth episode. Eunis is going off to the royal court, and there's one of those scrolling stills that are so common in anime. At the last second, this guy in the foreground sneezes. Hysterical! See, cause no one's supposed to move, so his movement is unexpected? ...Yeah, I had to explain that one to _mike, too...

It makes me want to watch Abenobashi... never saw it before. What is it?

phil_ 04-10-2005 01:19 PM

Magical Shopping-arcade Abenobashi is a mostly gag based show about two friends, Sashi and Arume, who travel to strange alternate versions of the shopping-arcade they grew up in. It's maniacly funny with some incredibly juvinile toilet humor mixed in, but it's also (rarely) dramatic and touching. Also, it had a car that required pixelation to be on tv. It's only 12 or thirteen episodes long. Everyone should watch it. Having a knowledge of katakana helps a few of the visual gags, but it's not needed.

Also, I need some attempt at on-topicness. In the third episode of Magical Shopping-Arcade Abenobashi, they're on a spacestation version of the shopping-arcade. They reach the edge and Sashi has to pee, so he does so over the edge saying, "There's something so scifi about takin' a wiz into space." That's the funny part. Then Arume screams, and Sashi wizzes all over himself in panic. That's the toilet humor. I know it's not that funny, but it was the first thing to come to mind. I have to free up my phoneline now.

Hey, no comedy list is complete without one blow to the groin.

But, you must admit, the thirty or so seconds of montage does very well in describing the senstation of being kicked in the balls.

A personal favorite comes from the first episode of Trigun

Needless to say, Trigun spoilers ahead.

Are you sure? Okay:

The first sequence is a gang coming in and blowing away the bar that Vash is sitting at. After they stop, all that is left is the section of bar that Vash's drink is on, the stool he is sitting on, and Vash himself. It shows him getting up and dramatically drawing his gun.

Fast forward into the episode. Vash has a flashback about how it went. He pulls the trigger...and nothing happens. He does so again, repeatedly. The gun is empty.

It cracks me up, just because it's unexpected.

Too many moments in the Inuyasha and Flame of Recca mangas to talk about...

Sesshoumaru 04-13-2005 07:02 PM

One great moment in Shaman King is when Anna tries to slap Hao after he says she should marry him instead of Yoh if she wants to be the wife of the Shaman King, he cathes her hand and there's a little pause, then she slaps him with the other hand.
