Just finished So Long and Thanks for All the Fish and I have one word to describe it:

O.O

It was AMAZING!

The words on the montain were brilliant!

yeah, its a brilliant book. Mostly harmless is the last one, hard to find. Its wierd.

I liked life the universe and everything.

" I wont disturb you with the details because they might-"

" what?"

" disturb you."

Yeah, I just read it, it's like watching the universe tearing it self apart, with all those extra deminsions. It's just all collapsing. I had to draw a chart to sort it all out, some pretty wierd stuff. Funny stuff from Ford though,
"It is my sacred and holy duty to see those guys suffer"

"Why, how much did you tip him?"
Ford named a figure again.
"I don't know how much that is," said Arthur. "What's it worth in pounds
sterling? What would it buy you?"
"It would probably buy you, roughly... er..." Ford screwed his eyes up as
he did some calculations in his head. "Switzerland," he said at last. He
picked up his Hitchhiker's Guide and started to type.

Didn't quite understand the end though, was the Earth destroyed?

Well, it's kind of hard to say. Apparently Douglas Adams was having a rough time when he wrote that one and kind of took it out on the characters -- he meant to write a sixth book, but since he passed away before anything really concrete got written down, we'll never know if he would've tried to ret-con away what happened in Mostly Harmless or not.

Such a shame :(

On a somewhat related note, is it known which books the movie will cover?

Mashirosen 04-24-2005 07:50 PM

Judging by the review Brian linked to a while ago, it seems like it's mostly the first book with some completely new stuff thrown in.

I swear I saw the guy(yellow and black uniform) from the ship full of middle-men(hairdressers, advertisers, etc.) in the commercials....

Wasn't that from Life, the Universe and Everything?

To really understand, or at least begin to understand, DNA you should get the book "The Salmon of Doubt" it's very amusing and is a colection of his writings in magazines and other stuff...it also has the beginings of a Third Dirk Gently Book with the same title as the whole book. For those of you unfamiliar with DNA Dirk is his detective Private eye guy who goes around and does stuff...well sort of I don't want to ruin it for you...Another DNA book to pick up (if you can find it) is "Last Chance to See." It's a book about endangered speices and is his rarest book (I have a copy of it somewhere...). As far as "Mostly Harmless" being rare...I have two copies.
Love,
DBS
