Faze Set dusted himself off and as soon as the whistle blew, began along the track at a run. While fire demons mostly lacked the ability to fly (for long distances, anyway) his lineage had instead grown strong legs, endurant enough to run non-stop for 3 years, speedy enough to move at a speed in which everything else stood still, and strong enough to leap dozens of miles in a single bound, or Leap over the tallest of mountains. While Faze had not remotely neared his legendary forefather's abilities, he could still leap quite high and run at a decent speed no matter what the conditions.
His biggest problem was staying on the track, as the neckbrace still hampered his mental "footing" and he had to carefully let his conciousness take care of where he placed his legs. He had always had a good sense of where it was good to step, and apparently that came from an extra sense appart from his five senses. But after the 1st lap he got the hang of it and was soon in good pace with the others. He could run much faster, but he wanted to take this sense of direction thing one step at a time. Besides, the others might think he was showing off. |
After a few moments, Taro pressed a button on his chair. Then, the flooring started to move backwards, and several obstacles appeared. Everyone sweatdropped. "Get to jumping those! And you still have to do 50 laps!" Maron was starting to accelerate before jumping over the first obstacles, then approached the end of the lap.

As soon as the whistle blew Gokin took off. At first he felt like he was running through ankle-deep water. It didn't exactly slow him down, but there was a drag. He couldn't run near as fast as he was used to, but he knew his speed would only increase as he continued through the laps. He noticed that the one called Maron shot ahead of everyone almost before the whistle blew. However, that was the last notice Gokin took of his training partners. He spared only enough awareness of them to allow him to react in time if one strayed too close. But he focused almost entirely on moving forward and finding the right speed that would take him through the fifty laps in a good amount of time while not tiring him out so much that he couldn't get over the obstacles. About three-fourths of the way through the first lap he fell into a rhythym and felt comfortable with the weights. He was able to clear the obstacles in his path without breaking stride. He had no idea where he was in relation to the others, but, at this point, it didn't matter to him.

<Son of a BI---!> Faze blurted out in his mind, as he took an obstacle to the groin and landed with a skid on his face. He was quicly back on to his feet and continued along, leaping above the obstacles with ease. <Hey!> He thought. <I can curse as much as I want without my ancestors punishing me for it!>
Faze accelarated a bit due to his leaping prowess, and pushed along by a mental chant. < Fu--_Fu--_Fu--, Fu--ity Fu--! Damn DAmn damn B____ O' B_____! Man, this is fun! And there's no way my forefathers can doing anything about it!> Just as he thought that, he leapt above another obstacle, but suddenly it was surrounded by a red light and flew up, catching him in between the legs. "OOF!" Faze landed again head first and got up quickly, this time appologizing to his elders. One word addition about Faze's thoughts of the next leg of training: "Oy!" |
Nearly an hour after the racing, everyone was quite tired, and had at least hit something. Even Maron and Gokin had been surprised by the subtle change of sizes the obstacles shared. None of them ever really got the same height twice in a row.
Before getting to the next sequence of exercises, Taro decided to let them rest a bit. "Here's the pattern you'll follow. First, you'll be running on those tires, then you'll climb the rope ladder, pass through the guardhouse, climb the wooden wall, walk on the rope, crawl under the barbed wire, and use the rope to get back to the start." By the time he finished, the others were finishing their breaks and went into position. Right as he whistled, several turrets appeared, and they started shooting energy projectiles at them. "Oh, and don't worry about those. They'll just itch a lot. But it's better for you not to get hit, though; they will be stunning you if you do." Maron had sped forward, again, with the whistle. Right at the tires, he jumped over them, right before a turret appeared in one of them and shot at where he was. Several others did the same. |
OOC: Sorry I didn't respond i was too absorbed in my new game :)
IC: Kimimaro was exhausted but he kept moving. He got to the tires and felt a stinging sensation on his back as he almost tripped damm i hate this... |
Faze itched like crazy. His skin was far too resilient to feel pain from the energy blasts, but they felt like that time when he took a nap in poison oak. And the armor largely restricted any chance to scratch. <AACAAAKAKA I ITCH!! ALJASODIJAPSDJ> As you can see, it even made it hard for him to think good. Instinctively he leapt over whenever neccesary, and rubbed himself against the barbed wire, and slid down the rope with his back.

Mercutio deftly sidesteps the multiple energy blasts racing towards hwere he had been a moment before and begins to accelerate through the course. The uneven spacing of the tires causes him much difficulty.
(OOC: can one of us distract the turrets while the rest finish the course?) |
(No.)
After another hour, everyone was in lots of pain from the several shots they got. Maron, overall, was getting the lead usually. While he never passed perfectly, he was going better than the others. Right now, each one was holding a map of a different section of the temple, staring at it. On the top, was the name of the job they'd do, and the map had several markings showing what they'd do. Taro reappeared, next to a large curtain. "Well, you guys have gotten enough of a break. Now, you will be doing the assignment on your maps, but there's a catch." Everyone groaned at the sound of that; the last 'catches' had been fairly painful. "You kids will have to do these..." he pulled a rope and the curtain was pulled upwards, revealing an entire zoo in there, "while making sure the pets don't ruin anything valuable, which is a large amount of the stuff in here. Oh, and you'll pay for anything broken." The animals scampered, and the students whimpered before running after them. Maron's assignment was to 'Clean the Fishtank'. As he got there, he couldn't help but notice it had eels... and gators... and... was that a Komodo Dragon? (Put up an assignment, then add up dangerous stuff.) |
Running the laps had torn Shazu up. The obstical course ruined what was left, and he was damn sure that this assignment was going to kill him. He looked up and noticed that at least the animals weren't trying to break the windows he has to clean. Of course, he heard a squack and a bird came flying towards the window. "Shit!" Shazu yelled as he ran and grabbed the bird's tail before it crashed through the window. He threw the bird back and it flew off, but there were what looks like hundreds more trying to go through the same way. "Shit shit shit1" He exclaimed as he fended off birds and wiped the windows .
OOC: Hope thats good enough. |
