Legacy of the Sons of Aether
 
This is the year 2585. The world has undergone a radical transformation, along with the rest of the galaxy. The mystical powers of old have returned after centuries of abscence, causing countless worlds to return to their pristine state. However the worlds had advanced far beyond what they we're in the 20th century. Two hundred years ago the first Sons of Aether, conduits of the cosmic power of aether, had defended the universe from the great Scourge.

The Scourge, a conglomerate of many great evil entities, had been destroyed utterly forever, or so it was thought. Giall'Ra'Amon, the Great Bastard, had, with his underlings the Thirteen Scourges, conquered more than the entire galaxy, utterly devastating the peaceful people of it, in great epic tales of evil and villainy. As must be repeated, the Sons of Aether vanquished the Scourge.

However, now there are rumors of the Scourg'es reawakening. It is up to you, the new Sons of Aether to stop the Wicked Masters from whatever they would do to the new found peace of the Galaxy. You are the heroes. You are the legends. You are: The Sons of Aether.

Choose three areas of power you wish to have. Here's some ideas=

AIR (involving control of air and weather)
EARTH (involving control of earth and stone)
FIRE (involving control of fire)
WATER (involving control of water, fog, mist, ice, etc.)
MAGIC (control of and protection from magical beings and forces)
[weather control, elementals...? Potentially extremely powerful stuff....]

KNOWLEDGE (clairvoyance/clairaudience, true seeing, etc.)
TRICKERY (disguise, confusion, misdirection, concealment)
LUCK (adjusts probabilities, usually in the subject's favor)
TRAVEL (flight, levitation, teleportation, astral projection)
[spiritualism, illusion, "Strange Luck"?]

HEALING (healing, regeneration, resurrection)
ANIMAL (control of animals or use of animal-like qualities)
PLANT (control of plants or use of plant-like qualities)
[lycanthropy, anyone? healers and holy men?]

SUN (generation of light, heat, fire, energy)
STRENGTH (change size, strength, and durability of target)
DEATH (necromancy, animation of the dead, destruction of living)
DESTRUCTION (destruction of objects, wounding or harming victim)
PROTECTION (spiritual resistances, immunites, shields)
WAR (bonuses to armor and weapons, smiting of ememies)
[Death! Destruction! War and protection!! Breathe death rays, raise heat-shields, and body-slam your opponent while knocking over high-tension power lines and trampling on the ruins of Tokyo!!! Possibly some of the more powerful, blunt, direct, and perhaps least interesting abilities.]

CHAOS (protection from and threats to lawful beings and magic)
LAW (protection from and threats to chaotic beings and magic)
EVIL (protection from and threats to good beings and magic)
GOOD (protection from and threats to evil beings and magic)
[*shrug* these four might still be of some use taken outside of Dungeons & Dragons' cliche'd internal moral-axis philosophy... could be of use to priest and exorcist concepts?]



Magical Schools:

ABJURATION
(Protective spells, particularly barriers, "Protection from Evil/Good", "Dispel Magic", "Banishment")

CONJURATION
(Summoning, especially the summoning of magical creatures and energies. Like those creepy old spiritualist Ectoplasm photographs?)

DIVINATION
(Learn secrets long forgotten, predict the future, find hidden things. In the television show Millennium, profiler Frank Black could handle evidence at a crime scene and "see what the killer sees", along with a secret war between angels and demons.... "Clairaudience", "Clairvoyance", etc.)

ENCHANTMENT
(Enchantments effect the minds of others; "Charm Person"... the Evil Queen from "Snow White"? The modern, charismatic versions of Dracula. Rasputin. Obi Wan putting ideas into the Storm Troopers' heads: "These are not the droids you want...")

EVOCATION
(Manipulate energy and tap unseen sources of energy: "Fireball", "Lightning Bolt". See the pyrokinetic ability of the main character of Stephen King's "Firestarter", "Raiden/Lightning from Big Trouble In Little China"?)

ILLUSION
(Decieve the minds and senses of others. Examples: "Figment" - a completely imaginary image or sensation; figments have no weight, deal no damage, provide no nutritional value or shelter, etc. "Glamer" - changes the victim's perception of a real object, perhaps causing it to look, feel taste, or smell different. "Pattern" - similar to a figment but more solid and convincing, effecting the subject's mind. "Phantasm" - a thoroughly convincing image which only the victim and the caster can see or hear. "Shadow" - a partially real illusion created from extradimensional energy, which can have real effects such as dealing real damage.)

Basicaly you can make up you're powers, just don't choose being the god of hangovers. It's a serious roleplay.

Name: Goran
Age: 16
Powers: Healing/War/Protection
Appearance: A young looking man, considering the age of the other Sons of Aether. Sandy Blonde Hair covers his head, and comes about half an inch short from covering his eyes. A very slight bit of muscle is evident on his body. He stands at 6 ft, and wears very heavy robes, denoting his priestly background.

Equipment: A holy symbol of his diety, a Maul made of pure ivory, a Mace made of pure ebony, Heavy White Robes with dark blue trim.

Personality: A very pious man, especially for his age, he will look down on anyone who belittles his profession. Hates to use his weapons, but sees it as a necessary evil to purifying the world.

Alignment (Though I'm pretty sure this counts as one of the three..I'm just mentioning his alignment, because some of his protection spells will come from this.): Lawful Good.

Name: Alorin son of Aether
Age:22
Powers:Luck/Trickery/Animal
Appearance: Not a particularly large man, Alorin is an even 6 foot, though he is not a man, he is an Arcturian. He is humanoid in basic shape, yet has the features of a wolf, along with a tail, claws and fur all over his body.

Equipment: He wears across his back a rapier carved from the teeth of the Dorgun'hi Dread Tiger. 20 times larger than the standard tiger on Earth. He also wears, for the saks of the self concious humans, a loincloth of finely tanned buckskin.

Personality: A quiet and reclusive creature, he prefers the company of wild animals to that of sentient creaures. He is a master of the wilds, often calling upon various creatures to aid him in certain situations.

Alignment: What ever he feels is best for the creatures of the wilds.

OOC: if alien races aren't allowed just tell me and I'll change it.

Name: Torren Kail
Age: 68 (about 40 in his peoples standards)
Powers: Conjuration/Plant/Death
Appearance: A young Tresearite he holds the form of a tree with human features. He is very tall (not really like ent tall 9"5') with hair that is very similar to weeds literally growing from his head, and green features all over from his hair to his eyes as well as a darker green for his cloak. The only thing that isn't green is his skin. He wears a great cloak that furtheres his resemblance to a tree with its many sleaves (like 1 every 12 inches squared) and rootlike bottom. Underneath he wears a basic green shirt and jeans found amongst his peoples army.

Equipment: A living club representing his elemental strength called Intre. It is basicly a tree creature that has taken the form of a club.

Personality: He is unusually easygoing guy he almost always forgives all for what they say or do to him simply be forgotten with the right kind of apoligy. He is also very random and does many things for no reason other than he can getting him in alot of trouble much of his life so far.

Bio: He was born upon his planet with a natural rebellious spirit which caused him to put him up to become a Catalyst which can summon Plant beasts upon whim as well as animate the dead into certain types of servants. He had alot of unusual times with his powers and is a wanted man around the universe. He is wanted not for any murder charges though his crimes are considered far worse. An example would be his manipulation of a man's stomach to grow a plant which the man suffered extreme pain and killed himself attempting to remove from his large intestine(I won't specify on anything other than he was in an restroom). He is an all around good guy but will not take some things some people do quietly. He is simply wierd.

Name: Esta

Race: Humanoid, Magical

Age: 84

Powers: Fire, Water, Magic

Appearance: Esta stands about 5 foot, 8 inches tall. He looks like a normal human, aside from his icy-blue skin. His entire body is covered in divine runes. (Think Nightcrawler, only lighter blue, and lacking the tail and such) Despite the age above, he looks like a young adult human.

Equipment: Esta does not use any weapons, he functions purely from his intense elemental abilities. He wears decorative leather armor, adorned with metallic studs and spikes. He also sports a very long, gray-blue cloak.

Personality: Esta is utterly silent. In fact, its a rarity if you ever hear him speak, but he tends to get his message across. Aside from that fact, he is a dedicated guardian, and will gladly sacrifice his life to save those he protects.

Alignment: Esta makes decisions on a case-by-case basis, and makes said decisions for the good of those he protects. Under those circumstances, he is probably Neutral Good by D&D standards.

Bio: Esta's past is shrouded in mystery. Since he stays quiet, no one really knows who he actually is, where he came from, and why he has come here. They might never know. Rumour has it that Esta appeared by accident through a magical vortex from another plane, there is no actual evidence of this. Esta served as a guardian for travelling heroes as they embarked on missions of great importance. He has extensive combat experience, has vanquished many foes, and has nearly been vanquished several times in the past. Esta has been without travelling companions for the better part of a decade, and seeks to find new ones now that the rumours of the Scourage Reawakening are appearing.

I've got a question before I make a character. I want to do this combo Divination/Illusion/Enchantment. What my character does is he can tell what is the worst fear using Divination. He becomes his enemies worst fear using illusion. Then causes damage with the illusion using enchantment. Is that ok with you?
