Hate Legolas? I mean, the movies are chock full of "Legolas coolness scenes". Look it's super-elf! The rest of the Fellowship barely gets to fight and Gimli, who is a BETTER fighter than Legolas (43 orcs!) gets downplayed into a comedic relief role (urge to kill rising...) I got really tired of that acrobatic shield-boarding nancy boy elf stealing the show.

I think Legolas kicks ass! He stabbed the orc with the arrow and then he shot him with it!!! Kick Ass!! But they should have given Strider/Aragon, and Gimli cool scenes too. They are part of the fellowship and each played a huge role in saving the world.

Don't even get me started on Gimli. That was the worst hollywoodified book-to-movie ingredient since the ending of Dreamcatcher, as well as a major reason for me staying the heck away from Return of the King.

Last time I watched The Two Towers was a year ago (yes, first and last time), and I'm still pissed off about the Gimli-son-of-Comic-Relief thing.

You should see ROTk anyway, Gimli has less of a role and less embarrasment. But it still makes me sad. :(

I guess I will eventually, but I'm well able to wait until it's shown in English (being that I live in Germany, where movies get overdubbed). Shouldn't take too long, and that way I further minimize the, as you aptly put it, embarrasment.

Yes, the movie was definatley biased to make people like Legolas, and that DID make me hate him more. I mean, his womanly appearances were bad enough to start with.... :(

I agree, but I don't really hate Legolas. I just thought that him sliding down the elephaunt's trunk was a bit over the top, cuz he did a surfing-down-something already in Two Towers. And Gimli definately should've gotten cooler scenes.

have you even read the trilogy... i mean in the books there is humor and gimli was the butt of those jokes and although he is a good fighter he isn't better than legolas

I just saw RotK yesterday (yay!) and they DID downplay the dwarf, like everyone said! I don't like how Legolas stole the show too many times, but I think it is funny how Gimli is the butt of most jokes, like in the books...

Besides, Gimli is the best, because nobody tosses a dwarf!

Sigh. Yes, Redmage, I HAVE read the trilogy (Urge to kill rising). I'm aware that they do make fun of Gimli SOME and that's ok. He's funny.

HOWEVER...the movies were over the top. He was all comic relief and no fighter. It was stupid.

And i'm sorry, he was a better fighter than Legolas. 42-41 record in Gimli's favor.
