I'm replaying Persona 4. Just finished the Heaven dungeon. Aww, Nanako.

I also just received Planescape: Torment in the mail so I'll be playing that for the first time ever pretty soon, should be fun.

And I'm going to be playing Medieval II: Total War pretty soon, corresponding with my Let's Play.

Interestingly, thinking about Persona 4 has led me to attempt to compile another list:

If Solid Snake Was Marooned on a Desert Island and Could Only Play 5 Games for the Rest of His Life, Which would he Choose to Bring?

1: Persona 4
2: Chrono Trigger
3: Metal Gear Solid 3
4: Medieval II: Total War
5: Shadow of the Colossus

It's interesting how that list differs somewhat from a list of my "Top 5 Videogames Period." I prefer ICO over Shadow of the Colossus, for example, but Colossus has more replay value. Similarly, I prefer the original MGS over MGS3 in terms of story, and so I generally rate the original title higher, but if I were stuck on a desert island I'd want access to the game with the best gameplay and graphics as well as a bitchin' story. Medieval II is a phenomenal game, but it wouldn't make my Top 10 videogames (its open-ended gameplay and re-playability make the difference here.)

Persona 4 would definitely make my Top 5, but it's not my favorite videogame of all time, whereas it'd easily be my #1 choice for a deserted island escapade. The one great element about Persona 4 is how the game effectively deceives you into believing 1: that its cast of characters are all living, breathing people, and 2:that you're bestest best friends with all of them (even Adachi he just doesn't know it yet.) Which is something I'd need to deceive myself into believing.
