It was the 23rd of Felsite when it all started to go wrong for me.
*impatient knocking*
Voice: mphfrsr?
*louder knocking*
Me: mmf, what is it?
*BAM* *BAM*
I flung open the door: Dammit, the hell's yer problem waking a dwarf up at this hour?
Wigmund: You're the new overseer now kid, no more sleeping in for you.
Gregness: Huh? You're kidding, right? They were serious about that? Gods, I thought I was just hearing things from having too little to drink...
Wigmund: Yeah, well, you've got some things here we need you to look at, and-
Gregness: Save it. First I'm going to drink this hangover away, then we'll talk.
Meet the Engineer Overseer
All I wanted was to relax and enjoy life as one of the few dwarves who know more about machinery than "pull this lever". I'd just build whatever they need in my own time, then relax away the off hours at parties or whatever; I'm not too picky.
Instead, I'm only just through my apprenticeship and now I've got guys like this Viridis chucklefuck bringing me work at all hours of the day and night.
Gregness: Hey, genius, I think you missed a few pages.
Gregness: Aside from the booze and food, there's nothing here that says anything at all about what we've got in this place!
Viridis: Hey, listen "Overseer" I just gathered up everything that looked important from Thadius' office and brought it over. Besides, it's not like we need to know where anything other than the booze and food is anyway.
Gregness: Was that you volunteering to count everything? I think it was!
Viridis: Dammit.
The only other thing that stood out from that first report was that our entire mining crew consisted of one dwarf! I had no idea if there were any picks laying around, so I sent an order for four down to the forges so I could recruit some of the peasantry.

Okay, first update down. I think rather than seasonal updates I'll be doing smaller ones like this so I don't have to sit for four hours per post. It should end up being more regular this way since it'll be easier to fit in around my school schedule. There'll likely be one
maybe two more posts before thusday night, but I'll be back in sacramento visiting my family for the weekend (and hopefully, going dancing with a beautiful woman!) so that will push back any further updates to next week.
