The backing of the US pretty much created Israel as a state and certainly helped it to survive and become the power it has become.
And this is the one area of meddling in foreign business where he won't get chastised by the global left, unlike say Iraq.
And if the US wants dialogues with Iran they have to do something about the Israel problem and they are the ones to do it- they've ust found it convienent over the past 60 years not to.
