My mom buying technology. She is, simply put, out of her league. She wanted something to scan in photos because she heard you could do that from a friend at work. She took me out to Staples to buy a printer-scanner-copier-fax. Then she couldn't believe how expensive they were. All she wanted it for was to scan in pictures. I told her we could just get a flatbed scanner and she gave me this blank look.

"There is such a thing?"
"Yes, mom. Right over here."

She then completely ignored my suggestion of a good unit for a great price in favor of a shitty unit that was more expensive. The whole point of getting it was so I could try to fix up some photos for her. The unit's "photo fixing" completely ruins any hope of that. It also drops any line from my sketches that doesn't have roughly 80% contrast and is buggy as all Hell, constantly cutting out.

Did I mention that you can't adjust any of the scan settings for contrast or to turn the "photo fixing" off?



This wouldn't be all that terrible if she didn't do this with every piece of technology we buy. She drags me along because I know about this stuff, then totally ignores me because she thinks she knows better.
