I'm suppressing the urge to say that you don't need a costume so I can suggest a brain-busting combo.
A Ghoul mask (Fallout 3).
Alex Mercer's blade arm (Prototype).
Albert Wesker's sunglasses (Resident Evil).
"Fuzzy Lombax Ears" (Ratchet and Clank, specifically a Ratchet: Deadlocked reference).
Link's Shield to wear on your back (Legend of Zelda).
Rico's grappling hook on second arm (Just Cause).
Sonic's shoes (if you don't know the reference then you don't deserve this costume anyway).
Dave's DJ tux (Homestuck).
Bottom half of Master Chief's armor minus shoes (I can't think of a better alternative for pants right now),
And for the final piece, take some of that hard-to-see wire, stick a replica of Sparx (Spyro series) and make it look like it's hovering behind you.
Anything less than that and you might as well just stay inside and buy your own candy.
