Catherine comes out this summer, and I couldn't be more excited. Well, I probably could be, but it's rare for me to be genuinely HOSHITSYESFUCKYESHELLFUCKINGYES as opposed to just feigning it for amusement. Anywhosits, the game will be out June 26th, IIRC and assuming what I've heard is correct.
But first a little bit about the game. If you'd like, there's a Japanese demo on Xbox live, assuming you have a Japanese Xbox live account. The game is a combination of puzzle/horror and the daytime/school segments of Persona 3/4. During the day, you hang out with your friends, go out with your fiance/girlfriend Katherine, and I guess get seduced by Catherine? There's an alignment system as well, and one of the things that decides your alignment is stuff like the texts you send Katherine. In the demo, there's one example, and you can make multiple choices for the text you sent out. With some experimenting I managed to send a really mean one, and my alignment shifted towards the red. I wish I knew what it said.
The puzzle horror segments have you climbing huge towers, and shifting blocks so you can keep climbing. You can collect items as you climb, and once you reach the top you're awarded a trophy based on how well you did. Apparently the game is hard as fuck, and Atlus is working on a patch for the Japanese release to help with this. I heard some people say it's harder than Demon's Souls, but I doubt it. Atlus' defense was "I guess our people just got too good at the game during development." The graphics and facial expressions are really good, I think, though the anime segments feel out of place comparatively.
The plot revolves around Vincent having nightmares, and there being a string of deaths involving guys who cheat on their girlfriends.
So, I'm excited! It's sold and been scored really well in Japan. Supposedly it sold better than MvC3 there, so that's pretty rad.
