How about Mount and Blade?
Warband is currently still best, though With Fire and Sword add some very neat features. As well, it's getting new features (mostly features from Warband) via patches, so with a few patches it should be better than Warband.
Unless you don't like the setting. In which case, go with Warband, which is more or less fantasy.
