When I started the comic I had a lot of...stuff...that needed establishing and developing, not to mention I had to find my legs in terms of story and art.
I also pretty much worked page-by-page when I started. I had an idea where it was going, but not a concrete plan or an outline. That's why the first three chapters were all of various lengths.
What I should have done is spent the first few chapters establishing Kit and who she was before jumping smack into a plot with multiple-threads. I think there is a lot of good stuff in the first three chapters, and it's not hard to follow along, but if I had to do it over I would definitely focus more...
However, had I not done it the way I did, I probably wouldn't have come up with this Erin/Ith thing so maybe it wasn't a bad idea after all. This whole business with the dreadful turning whatever it kills into zombie-spawning nightmares makes the first part with Burke more significant as well.
