Utilities have gone down, too though, and I just recently got a raise (still not making much) so I might nab it near the latter half of this month and try it for the free 30 days. Probably make a Miqote, like I did back in the original beta.

Sinasis is the character name, on Ship 2. I'm planning on doing a write up of it over in the other thread once I hit level 30. I'd have done it already, but I missed out on a few things I should have mentioned in Neverwinter by making that one too early (and I've been meaning to get onto updating that as well), and didn't want to make the same mistake. As that 30 is when you get your class upgrade thing, though, I figured that'd be a good time.

I don't remember if I mentioned the female stuff specifically, but I think I at least mentioned how racist Karok's whole character design is. Yeah, it's uh, it's pretty. . . well it doesn't handle character design in a very egalitarian way, let's just leave it at that.

The story is kinda meh and, occasionally, just makes no sense until about level 50-60. When you start doing the Rocheste quests, anyway. Even then the writing isn't great, but there's some pretty decent scenes along the way.
Actually I think the first really good story scene happens in your twenties, in Ainle.

What areas are you having difficulty with, and are you playing on hard or normal? I think you said you were rolling Vella? If you're doing chains, they're a little harder to solo with, from what I understand, and I know that playing as Fiona and Evie I occasionally need to bite the proverbial bullet and do quests on normal a few times before I get the hang of bosses and stuff enough to do hard.
If you've hit fifty and are doing hero difficulty, some of that stuff is just impossible to solo, depending on your class, until you get upwards of 30aspd (40 if you're doing scythe).
On the bright side, the community isn't too bad usually, and you can tell Manofspaz I sent you, if you see him on. He's a friend of mine and a really nice guy. And also really really really good at the game. Like, solos some of the biggest pain in the ass raid bosses with no real issues despite being too lazy and poor to really have end tier gear.
You can also bug me on whatever messaging programs or Steam if you need help with something. I'll PROBABLY be willing to hop on and play for a bit.
Though, at the end of the day, Vindictus is a game I suggest just practicing with until you can solo stuff, because it's possible and why wouldn't you try to be the best you can be?
I made it to end game in Tera and then quit 'cause I don't really like dealing with people enough to raid. That said I wonder if the community got even worse? I mean it was always mostly gross dudes. Like, check out any of the female armors in the entire game--it's obvious there's a lot of sex appeal going on there, and just a lot of toxicness toward people playing x thing because they're obviously doing it for pervy reasons (really no matter which race), etc.
And they're all hyper-competitive in PvP things and. . . yeah okay no, the community was always awful. I was playing mostly with Steel and PF tho so I got to ignore it for the most part.
Though that one time I ended up raid leader in a castle siege was pretty great. Totally crushed the other team like bugs.
Also made a friend or two just chilling. So, you know, good with the bad.
Anyway, my favorite class to play was slayer, specifically castanic female. The animations just feel. . . right, for some reason. I had a high elf one too but everything seemed weird and awkward, 'cause high elves always gotta look like they're at a fashion show and it just flowed really oddly with the greatsword stuff. Cast female, though, everything's just perfect.
Plus the high risk, high reward play style of the slayer just speaks to me on a spiritual level. Weirdly, despite being the least survivable class, they still do better solo than in parties (unless the party has a healer and a tank), because they don't really have many 'oh shit' buttons to press and aggro switching on enemies just wrecks 'em. Or at least me when I'm playing.
I've been meaning to try this for, like, ever. I just keep not getting around to it.
