SS, my dad quit law for basically that reason. He took his skills as a lawyer, went back to school for a degree in urban design, and now he heads a non-profit and sits on the boards of a few charities. The point of this is that if you ever change your mind about law, the skills you will learn will be valuable in fields which may not seem related at first.
Also, while being cutthroat may help their job prospects, your, y'know, actual ability to empathize will be far more valuable in the long run.
Also also, what you described is why I chose the sciences over law :p
